But it's still not a mental disorder so why be touchy about it? confuse

Why does it matter if I am touchy about it or not, it doesn't matter, I am touchy about it deal with it.

Oddly, I'm in a position in which I can't say much more. He's a family friend.

Wow. I hope everything ends up working out okay for his family. I had a similar situation with my daughters' father who developed a serious mental illness.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. hug I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.

In a way I understand why people find other people with mental disorders amusing..(it's not the disorder that's found amusing , but how the person presents it)..... These people are some of the most vulnerable people in our society so of course it's quite obvious why a caring community such as Prince.org should find it amusing... (not that you all do )....but for those that do find it all amusing be wary.... mental disorder can strike anyone at any time ... and that's no joke!

Nobody should be hurtful, but I don't know if it's any better to avoid the obvious.

It's like people who don't want to offend the person in the wheelchair so they won't even look at them. Howard Stern makes fun of his "Whack Pack" but he's not shunning them despite their disorders. He's given them jobs & popularity, and he is loyal to them over a long period of time. He's despicable in many ways, but he doesn't skirt the obvious in terms of race, sex or disabilities.

Maybe a little humor says you're just like the rest of us and we're going to make fun of you accordingly.

I don't know, just my thoughts.

Yeah I agree... if the person is up for it and has the capacity to discerne then that's all well and good.... humour in the right context is therapeutic and good, but to use humour in a derogitory manner against the vulnerable ain't on .. I think we sing from the same sheet biggrin

no disrespect, but dyslexia isn't a mental disorder, is it? i thought it was more of a cognitive disorder or something differently labeled like that...

now multiple personality disorder...THERE'S a mental disorder for ya! thumbs up!

I've heard that Roseanne Barr (or whatever her last name is right now) has multiple personality disorder.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

i think it was the "in" thing to have for a while in the '90s. heck, prince even hinted at having MPD in the oprah interview.

speaking of whom, have we mentioned battered prince fan syndrome (BPFS) yet?
