Don't Pump Gas Today! (May 15) In an effort to show the oil companies that we are in protest against their high prices, we should all unite and stay away from the pumps today.
Read on: NO GAS...On May 15th 2007 In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight. On May 15th 2007, all internet users are asked not to go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places. There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up. If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take 2,292,000,000.00 (that's over2 BILLION dollars) out of the oil company's pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day. If you agree (which I can't see why you wouldn't) send this to all on your contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th. |

No problem. I can't afford to anyway.
I don't drive my car a lot, so when gas prices are on a gradual rise, I don't notice. The other day I filled it up for the first time in a while and almost passed out. Not complaining, gas SHOULD be expensive. . . oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

Not complaining, gas SHOULD be expensive. . . Unfortunately, gas is a "must have" life requirement, as is milk, water, food... not everyone can bike, train, bus, etc... to get along in every day life. Perhaps it should be expensive to persuade us to find other means, but right now, it's expensive for all the wrong reasons... corporate greed and gouging - just because they can! Let's at least unite today and not buy gas! |

your right. True, to a point... this is a nationwide effort; many people are participating, despite what your link says. If we can put a dent in their profits even for a day, then it's a success! If we can bring awareness to the cause, then it's a success. Even a little awareness, or a little publicity is better than nothing... isn't it? People Power is still alive and well - and believe it or not, the higher-ups do listen... eventually. As Cesar Chavez used to say, "Si se puede!" - or, "Yes, we can!" |

No risk here. I don't have a car and rarely take a taxi. Sometimes the bus, sometimes the taxi, but usually I use my legs.

You're right. It will show a difference for one day. You're also right that we still need to buy gas eventually. You're right again, I don't expect thousands of people to never buy gas again, I never even suggested that... What I did suggest is that for one day - no one buy gas. No one. If anything, it'll cause gas stations to "man" their stations and they'll all just sit around doing nothing. It'll make the news (hopefully). It'll perhaps get people to start thinking about their loyalty to gas powered vehicles (myself included). And maybe... just maybe... gas companies and politicians will take notice that the people are getting more than fed up with the way things are with gas prices right now. Not bad for one day's effort, no? |

people are going about their lives and they'll buy it they need to and not buy it if they don't. considering i just heard about it, I doubt it's effectiveness.

I don't need much gas today for my car. I am planning on making all the trips in one day. I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

Well over here in my town, they just raised the gas prices to $3.49 per gallon. But there were a couple of local gas stations that were still selling gas for only $3.19 per gallon. Those gas stations were packed to the max with cars trying to fill up with that price before those stations raised their prices too. Guess those folks didnt get the boycott on May 15th memo.
