If you mean frustrating in terms of what happends to the characters then yes. There's Joy In Expatriation.

Destined to Witness:Growing up Black in Nazi Germany. Only half-way through it.
A biography of a son of a Liberian nobleman whose father was in Germany as an ambassador and a Germany mother who worked as a medical assistant, they never married. Due to political unrest in Liberia the father's family had to leave Germany, leaving behind the boy and his mother at the cusp of the rise of the Nazi Party. It's odd looking at a picture of the little black boy all dressed up for school with a swastika pin. Hitler was his "hero" when he was a child til slowly he became aware of what all this meant for him. For the most part he's treated pretty well, I think part because of his mother determination, interestingly enough, yet there were some tough exceptions. He's met DuBois, MLK, Robinson, Ali, etc. He's worked for Ebony. Has served in the US military. That's all I know since I'm haven't finished reading it. Gotta hurry up though, it'll be due back to the library soon. [Edited 6/14/07 10:34am]

I may read The Id Idiot by Peter Bellone next. I just got it.
It has an intriguing opening... Friend. Hell. I thought I knew what that word meant until I saw my best friend Phil walking out of my apartment with my VCR. He said my gal gave him the key and told him it was okay. Fuck me. The guy who had everything had my girl too. I remember muttering something, but it might as well have been "Uncle."
An hour later the situation sank in. If I pretended like nothing happened, I was a total chump. If I complained, I was a whiney bitch. If I went to his house and decked him, I was an idiot. That's something I should have done on the stairwell. By doing nothing then I blew it. The rest of the gang knew it too, and I can't blame them for what went down either. Their choice was simple. On one side they had good-time women, hard drugs, and Phil's easy-going payment plan of occasional flattery and decision deferment, or me, another pilot fish competing for the resources. I got my ass booted out of the clique that night. Guys who I had hugged and head-butted in drunken displays of love and camaraderie two days ago now didn't return my calls. As I said before, I can't blame them.
