The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.

These words were pretty intresting..

"Now, no matter what the mullah teaches, there is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft. Do you understand that?

"When you kill a man, you steal a life," Baba said. "You steal his wife’s right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone’s right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness. Do you see

A low road to Heaven by Rod Loche.

I grew up with Rod. I still keep in touch with him on an occasional basis and had no idea he got a book published. In fact even his own family didn't know until after the fact.

i wanna check out the cormac mccarthy one, library willing. nod

I might have to print this out & laminate it. Usually, I walk into a book store without a clue what I'm going to read next.

The Pynchon was a terrific ride. The Murakami...well, I read non-Sedaris short stories reluctantly, and this one feels like it was produced in the same spirit....
"I got the devil in me, girl." - 'John the Baptist', Afghan Whigs
"Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself."

Okay, I started in on this weird-ass book today.

So far it's kind of like a mixture of Flann O'Brien and Herman Hesse.

I just finished Black Swan Green, it was mostly crap.

There where a few bright moments and some real insight, but mostly it was like a bad British adaption of The Wonder Years. confused
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.
