BTW, Addams Family Values? I'd have to agree with Spider-Man 2 being the number one superhero film. But if you include all illustrated fiction-inspired movies then maybe I liked Ghost World better. American Splendor is tough to beat also. You didn't like Addams Family Values? | |

The Cap and original FF films were never officially released so that's why they aren't on the list. The original Punisher film got less than 20 reviews so that would make it ineligible also. | |

Superman: The Movie is the best to me. If it weren't for that movie, none of these other mega-successes would likely have been made. It remains a blueprint for comic-based films. Tell a compelling story about the hero's origins and use respected actors to carry the story out. Batman, X-Men, Spider Man, et al followed this blueprint to a T. The Crow, Batman (1989) and original Superman are great films in the true sense of the word.
Spiderman, the hulk, any anime stuff are STILL comics, animated movies full of CGI, but not film. Addmitedly I haven't seen all of them but those three stand out from the list for me. Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard! | |

Yeah, it was probably misleading of me to post the tomatometer ratings since that was not how the movies were ranked. They are ranked using a complicated formula: Here's how the Comix Countdown works:
• Each critic from our discrete list gets one vote, all weighted equally. • A movie must have 20 or more rated reviews to be considered. • Reviews without ratings are not counted toward the results. • Because reviews are continually added, manually and otherwise, we have a cutoff date at which new reviews are not counted. The current cut off date is 5/2/2007. • We use a weighted formula (Bayesian) to account for variation in the number of reviews per movie. The winners are determined by the rankings, designated as the "adjusted score," after applying said formula: (r ÷ (r+m)) × t + (m ÷ (r+m)) × a, with "r" representing the number of rated reviews, "m" the minimum number of reviews needed for a movie to qualify, "t" the Tomatometer score, and "a" the average Tomatometer of all the qualifying movies | |
