I already said that; the ones that order it just because they think it proves how tough they are. Such people do exist unfortunately, and like Charlotte said it's the same kind of guys who order extra hot curry etc. A bit silly if you ask me.

Yes, black coffee, Marlboro Reds, Jack Danials, rare steak (the bloodier the better). Nothing wrong with any of those, but some guys do it to be manly.

nod Exactly. Insecure little boys who are desperately trying to create some kind of macho image of themselves.

I had vegetarian meals for every other meal and was not getting ANY protein. lol The catered meals from my conference didn't offer much. I was craving meat by last night. lol

But now I'm back to my mostly veggie home. smile

I love steak, but I just can't have it bloody. I'm terrified of getting a disease from undercooked meat. In fact, I had some rare London broil at a party last weekend, and I got sick about an hour later. I usually order it medium well.

Unless you're at a restaurant where they actually have chefs cooking your food, it's pointless to order a steak "medium rare" or "medium well". You're only going to get it one of 3 ways, rare, medium, or well. And you're lucky if they even get that right. The server may write it down and say ok, but all they're really doing in humoring you.

I love a good, rare to medium-rare steak. Only problem is, for the price of a decent one here I'm all too painfully aware that I could buy 15 or 16 Thai meals from local restaurants - which is a weekend short of a whole week's food for one person.

Decent steak = $15 / 7.50 GBP
Nice Thai dish from local restaurant = $0.90 / 45p

lol

Probably not. Have you seen Thai cows? A whole cow makes for a few nibbles to have with your beer. lol
