MAC will take back anything you buy & exchange it for something else nod

That is one thing I loved about MAC when I switched to them, not only does it give me a nice smooth look, it covers my horrible acne scars and it does not make my face want to break out anymore. I will be loyal to MAC forever, plus I love their return thing they do with bringing back your empties to recycle and give you a free lipstick.

Oh yes! I keep track of my empties bananadance

You can't bring them in one @ a time though - you have to come in w/ 6 empties to get the lipstick. I have so much MAC that I rarely empty on ANYTHING lol I think I've only gotten a free lipstick twice in all the years I've been using their product razz

You should really consider Bobbi Brown. Oprah wears her makeup and I'm sure you've seen pics of her without makeup on. But when she wears it I don't think she looks overdone. Bobbi Brown is great because they have such a huge range of shades which is often a issue for black women since we come in so many different shades.

Thanks for the tip! I've never even thought to use Bobbi Brown smile

thumbs up! They have great lil foundation samples that you can get in different shades to see which one works best. And using it at home in real light makes a big difference than trying it on in the store. I use a lighter foundation in the winter sometimes and with the samples you can get what you need without buying a whole bottle of shade that's not your primary color. And they're real flexible with returns too.

Awesome. I'm noticing that I'm NC45 (MAC) in winter & NC50 in summer. Since I have a foundation to return to MAC I'll probably get an NC50 & mix it w/ the NC45 I already have, use all that up & then try out Bobbi Brown & Iman smile

Makeup's been used all throughout the ages- stemming back to Ancient Egyptian days!!! And it was never a self-esteem issue THEN coz there was no media, no advertisements to cause such hysteria in people's minds.

But I do believe makeup can play a role in self-esteem.

Speaking for myself- I love using it to enhance and it feels all nice when i smooth it out on the skin. I hate it if i'm having a bad day (if i look very tired or if i've got a bit of a breakout thing happening) coz it is THEN that i do use it if i'm going out to COVER as such and i hate it coz i dont'want to cover it lol so why the hell do i do it when really the problem doesn't look that bad and it could be worse! But i still do it. lol Having said that i love the process of putting on makeup and i love matching up the look with what im wearing and blah blah blah- i actually love just as much if not more the process of taking it all off! It feels fresh and I like the wet look of my eyelashes and eyebrows when i do it lol i do!! But generally i don't see makeup as a coverup- it's just a thing that ladys do. A grooming thing like brushing ones hair and making sure it's all looking the way we like it to be.

I used to go out with someone who was funny about makeup and product- no offence, but it was so annoying. Just let the girl have her fun damn it. Remind her she looks good without it too and that's always good but don't make her feel like she has issues just coz she pays attention to her appearance in a way that has been done by women for bloody years!

My word.

Bobby Brown is nice, it just made my face really oily, clinique did a horrendous number on my skin, dried it out so much it was flaking off. I swear I have the pickiest skin in the world. mad

I still haven't found the right shade for my skintone. The MAC foundation I've been using is close, but still not quite right. I have a tough time because I have brown skin with yellow undertones. The closest brown shades always have peachy undertones, and make me look orange. Or, I get a shade with yellow undertones, and it's too light. Then there are the horrible ones that make me look ashy. It sucks, especially since it costs so much. pout

I have the same problem because I'm really dark with yellow undertones. Therefore most foundations that fit my general skin tone have a lot of red in it and the makeup consultants always automatically put me in the darkest damn color. They always do this to me when I've tried to use MAC too. I don't think Bobbi Brown makeup has that red dye that most makeups use so it's easier to get a more precise skin match.

Like I said earlier, 10 years ago when I started using Bobbi Brown my color was #8 and there were more colors after that. They've since added half shades so now my precise color is 7.5. It's amazing how much difference it made. Another great thing, to me, is that it dries with a very matte finish. Also, even though most people with oily skin tend to use oil-free makeup, Bobbi Brown came out with a water-based Moisture Rich version of their foundation which actually looks way better than the oil-free that I'd always used so I switched.

Really???? I'm so glad I don't have overly sensitive skin but everybody is unique. The one bad thing about Bobbi Brown is that they don't have foundation in a compact so I can't really touch up during the day (not that I really need to because it stays pretty matte on me all day no shine or nuthin) because it's liquid. So I tried to switch to MAC because they have that Studio Fix compact, but it turned real oily on my skin. I was so disappointed. sad
