Without eyeliner my eyes are big according to what people tell me, but if I wear eyeliner it looks like I am serious, angry, or trying to flirt with a glance. I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

Without eyeliner people ask me if I'm ok and tell me I look tired. |

If wearing makeup is deception, then that would make Prince one deceitful, little bitch. ...Actually...wait a minute...

Same here. It's less stressful without makeup. Same for hair...locs are less stressful, for me anyway. Inside of Me, I am Free, Free to be Me.

DexMSR said: Makeup?? What are the reasons for makeup? In my opinion it is just deception on many levels right? I mean, you are wearing it to enhance or hide something. Why not just be what you are and let that be your beacon to the world/masses to behold and love?
So tell me what your reasons are for wearing makeup? Is it societal pressure or self esteem issues? I like my women Au Naturale.....TALK TO ME LADIES!! So then why cut your hair or shave? Why dread your hair Dex? I wear makeup because it's fun. I'm a girly girl and I like to wear pink eyeshadow when I'm wearing a pink shirt (even though the professionals say not to match your makeup with your wardrobe!!! PFFT!) I like to dress up too. Fortunately I don't have to wear makeup to conceal anything...YET!

I wear makeup to cover up the scars on my face. My skin heals over with thick dark scars when it gets cut or scraped, so I was devestated when I hit the pimply teenage years. Alot of the scars are still visible several years later. I could never find makeup in my color when I was a teen, and it really hurt my self confidence. I felt like people were always staring at me. When I worked at a store, there were a few times when little kids would ask, "What happened to your face?" Their parents were mortified, but I always told them that I had an owie. It was horribly embarassing.
The scars aren't as bad now, but I do feel more confident when I put a thin layer of foundation on, to even out my skin tone. Strangely enough, Prince's ex-wife helped me pick out the kind I wear now. After being married to Prince, I'm sure she's an expert on makeup now. Wanna hear me sing?

I don't quite understand what you mean by makeup being deception.
Makeup does not change your face. If you've got a big nose, it's still there with makeup, if you've got small eyes and thin lips, it's still there with makeup. Makeup simply makes you look brighter and draws attention to certain features, it doesn't make you look like something you really aren't. [Edited 5/11/07 11:50am]

I wear make up to enhance my eyes. (I have awesome eyelashes.) I don't see how that's any different from wearing a certain color of shirt because someone tells you it looks good on you, or a certain style of pants because they accentuate your assets. Sometimes it's to hide a blemish, but clothes can hide things too; so are people who wear clothes caving to "societal pressure and low self-esteem" as well?
