We have just arrived half way on our journey to El Calafate to see the ice glaciers in Comodoro Rivadavia after spending a couple of days in El Bolson. We arrived in the middle of the hippy market on the Saturday. Nothing out of the ordinary was being sold except the local food stores were awesome. We had a huge chicken sandwich each for around 90p.

The evening was spent in the local pub drinking local beer and arguing about politics. I also ended up having to buy a jumper from a stall Id seen earlier in the day. I didnt have the change to buy it initially so the girl said she´d save it for after the pub. Lo and behold she came into the pub with change on orders from her boss. Bless her she was rather embarassed and walked straight out. Would have liked her to have joined us but there we are.

The next day we got up early at 7am to go on a 4 hour hike and stay in a refugio over night. The trek was quite physical and involved crossing two rickety bridges which wouldnt look out of place in an Indiana Jones movie and up and down built ladders. We finally got to the refugio surrounded by fields of horses and of cause the magnificent view of the Andes. We were greeted then by the owner Artilio...

After a wander around the refugio we sat down and chatted with Artilio over a few beers he brewed at home. We happened to catch him making jam when we arrived with some of the other guests. Artilio told us that he had lived up in the mountains for 26 years. Just another incredible night was had again. We all made dinner together spaghetti neopolitana Artilio, Dino and Sylvia plus the other guests Frank and Uri from Belgium, the two Claires (Australian and French) and Christian from Argentina. It was an incredible experience and one of many Ive had on my travels.

In the morning we trekked back to El Bolson for a shower and something to eat before getting on the bus. Whilst Sylvia was having a shower (which she flooded!) me and Dino were greeted by a simpleton who gave us a cuddle each and stroked our hair. Nice! We ate at the Martin Sheffield resteraunt as we had done previously as it was so good. I had a taster of wild bore, local trout and venison. This was followed by spinach noodles in a four cheese sauce and apple pie and ice cream for dessert. Martin Sheffield was apparently a Californian who arrived in Bariloche after chasing some criminals. He became a local legend after seeing a Loch Ness-type monster in the local lakes. The waitress was his grand daughter apparently.

Would be better if I weren't such a fucking procrastinator. rolleyes

I'm here waking myself up. Then I have a journal article review to write. Then I'm going to go to school and read through today's biology lab during my open lab/ tutoring session (unless somebody actually needs tutoring, which they often don't pout). Then I'm going to write up last week's lab. Then I have chemistry, then the bio lab. Then I'm going shopping to get stuff for my new kitty who is coming home tomorrow.

Somewhere in there I'm going to try to eat and bathe and get dressed.

Ok, I guess I need to get off the org. lol wave
oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!
