Have you ever traced your family history.

Have you found out you are related to someone famous in history.

I'm a Mayflower descendent and Chief Massasoit descendent on my Father's side.

I want to so badly.....but I heard it was really expensive. Maybe if the whole family chipped in and bought it together.

Yourself? Or was a professional involved? I don't know over half the people on my dad's side, so it would be really tough. I wouldn't know where to start.

I started to,
but at one point,
my family history ran into a trailer park.
After that,
I didn't want to know any more.

Trailers, from what I understand, can only go downhill.

my maternal grandparents have a very detailed book that is kept at their house with everyone's name, birthday, wedding aniv and date of death dating to i think 1700. before that we can refer to Church records in Ireland.

plus my grandma has the baptismal dress everyone in my family for the past 150 years has been baptised in with their names and date of baptism framed on her wall. the grown dress itself has gotten to frail to use anymore.

My mom is ALL into this stuff, she's traced our family back into the 1600's. The only famous person so far is Grover Cleveland. Most of my ancestors were from Germany, Ireland, and England.

Grover Clevand, I think finding ancestors like that is very interesting.

In Iceland there is a database accessible by all Icelanders where you can type in a name of an Icelander and see how he/she is related to you. Since this is a small country (300.000) it's not surprising that I'm related to quite a few famous Icelanders (famous in Iceland, though). If I go back to the 18th century, I can trace my roots to an Irish princess and a Jewish merchant from Denmark. But the database goes all the way back to the 9th century, so I can actually trace myself to Leifur EirĂksson (the first European to discover America).

Yes and I found out that my people are American Indians, I was so happy that I started to go to powwows every summer and read everything I could about my Indian heritage, but most of it is so sad that it makes me cry.
