In college I went into this convenience store and one of the cashiers was applying Henna on one of her friends. It was so pretty. I wanted to ask her if she would apply some on me,but I was too scared. I think they were shocked I knew what it was.

a few years ago i was in an airport waiting for a flight and watched a plane deboard.... this was back when family could wait right there when they got off. i watched this young girl come off the plane, looked to be late teens early 20s. she was dressed very "bohemian", wore sandals, and her feet were covered in henna art. i loved it, it looked sooooo cool! her parents saw it and FREAKED!! lol til i heard her say "its only henna mom." giggle

i would love to get something like that done for summer. nod

i was trying to look closely at her feet without being obvious. i was kinda shy back then. now i'd just go up to her and say "oh my god, i love your feet!! can i see up close? where did you get it done?" lol

it was absolutely beautiful, very intricate work. nod

that's gorgeous!! love what i saw was kind of like that, but no "V" shape near the toes. the design literally covered her entire foot. i had to look to make sure it didn't go under her feet as well.

but wow! i love that!! perfect for flip-flops. biggrin

Well, we decided to not go and it turned out to be lucky cos the game SUCKED, the arrangers had nothing working, it rained a LOT and the tents the arrangers had provided were leaking badly, the dragon was an old foresting machine and it broke down in the middle of the village square and shit disbelief lol Usually my friends and I go to higher quality games than that and our gut feeling told us not to go. We were right but I would still have LOVED to play the bad-ass... we had planned to really work out and get extremely fit and be really cool, like Matthew McConaghey (sp) cool in "Reign Of Fire" cool drool

last summer i had some done on my foot. yeah you are right mach, i think it was $10 for that little vine. it would be expensive having someone do a lot of work for you. the stuff on the top part of my foot faded quite quickly but my ankle stayed for a couple weeks.

i did it with my niece when she was here visiting... i would do it again with a relative/friend but probably not just for myself. ladies, just make sure you get the natural henna and not the stuff dyed black as that is not good for you.

Every year (ok, it's really only a 3 year tradition) I go very early to the first day of the West Seattle Street Fair and get henna'd. Not like the beautiful designs pictured here, usually a Chinese symbol for good luck..."Clarity" or something like that. It's a pre-golf tournament ritual.

Now, I never pass up the chance to get Henna...

I´ve never used it as a "tatoo", but I use it to dye my hair with and it made miracles with my hair.It used to be so weak and destroyed and since I started using, my hair is strong and healthy as never before. I´ll never use anything else on my hair.

There is no such thing as black henna. In order for henna to produce a black color chemicals that are unsafe for your skin have been added. Black henna should be avoided. A chemical dye known as PPD, which is not authorized for use on the skin by the FDA is often added to the natural henna to produce a black color. Black henna has become very popular in certain tourist areas, particularly Venice Beach and Mexico. It can cause liver and kidney damage, as well as scarring of the skin.

Natural henna, when applied to the skin rarely causes any adverse reactions, if you are concerned you should do a small patch test first. Natural henna is safe even for use on children as it contains no dangerous chemical dyes or harsh additives.

The paste is made from ground leaves of henna plants and a variety of ingredients such as lemons, limes, black tea, coffee, rose petals, orange blossoms, essential oils, cloves, pomegranates, tamarind, okra, and sugar.
