MUST have a private entrance and covered parking. In unit laundry is nice too. No More Haters on the Internet.

Calhoun, are you considering moving? Just wondering, since I knew you were having problems with that noisy upstairs neighbor. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

How many bedrooms MUST you have? I currently only have one, but I would looooove to have two. I could only afford a one bedroom when I moved here, but if I were to ever move again, I DEFINITELY would get two.
Do you prefer a certain floor of the building? I prefer to be on the top floor, so that I don't have noisy neighbors on top of me. But I still have a noisy neighbor living below me, so I guess that point is kinda moot. Does the # of closets/closet size matter? Yes, the closets must be a good size so that I can fit all my clothes, shoes, other stuff in there. Walk-in closets would be absolutely ideal for me! Any bathroom rules? (i.e. tub AND shower, with sink or separate sink area) I live alone, but I do like having a tub and a shower. Having a separate sink area would be nice too, especially if you had to share a bathroom with someone. Neighbors/neighborhood - pro's & cons? Well, you all know what my downstairs neighbor is like. Balconies - a must? Yes!! I don't have a balcony or porch now where I live and it sucks! What about parking? I don't have an attached garage, and wished that I did. I have to walk a short distance from my building to the carport, which can be difficult in rainy, snowy weather. I would also love to have an in-suite laundry room. It would be soo much easier to get in to wash my clothes. No waiting while someone else ties the machines up for hours. Another thing I would love to have is my own private entryway to and from my apartment. There are two teenaged boys across the hall from me who run through the halls with their little friends after school. They sound like a herd of damn elephants. There are many days that I would LOVE to have a house. Sure, it's more work, money, and worries, but I would get away from this apartment-living shit that drives me nuts. [Edited 5/7/07 17:01pm] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

How many bedrooms MUST you have? One, unless it's a studio with a good layout like what I had in Chicago. (L shaped, with the bed area being 2 ft higher than the rest of the apt.) Do you prefer a certain floor of the building? Anything but the first floor/street level, cause I'm female. And if it's a walk up, then 2nd--4th floors only. Does the # of closets/closet size matter? Yes, but in NYC beggars can't be choosers... Any bathroom rules? (i.e. tub AND shower, with sink or separate sink area) Clean; with good water pressure and hot water quickly; not located in the kitchen. Neighbors/neighborhood - pro's & cons? Must have a laundromat, grocery and public transportion within 3 blocks. Neighbors are hopefully not crazy. Balconies - a must? A luxury I'll probably never have. What about parking? n/a I don't drive. Must have windows that actually get sunlight, hardwood floors, and full size kitchen appliances (no dorm-size fridges; which yes, really exist in NY apartments!). Unfortunately for me, price is the main dictator of what my apartment will be like. I would love to live in a cute apartment in a fun neighborhood, but my paycheck won't allow that, so I'd rather have a nice, clean apartment in a boring neighborhood than a tiny crappy apartment in a hip 'hood. DAMN, I guess that's the price you pay to live in a great city I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it

* A bright apartment with big windows and preferably a high ceiling. * Not the ground floor because it's important to me that no-one can see in. * No building right across the street, again because I'd like privacy. * A few trees or bushes outside the window or at least nearby. * Non-noisy neighbours and a quiet street. * A roomy bathroom would be nice. The kitchen is not as important. Of course a balcony and a fireplace etc would be very nice too, but that's luxury that's not completely necessary. What I would give for some high ceilings up in this mutha! I try to think twice about streets that have buses going down them - I had a place like that once & granted it was a SUPER busy street that I had no business trying to live on, but the buses did wake me in the am I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! My next apartment will absolutely have (things I don't have now I have learned I NEED!):
at least 1 bedroom hardwood floors a bathtub (and a shower of course, combo OK) laundry on site (if not in my own unit - I have this now, but it's a necessity) I would also like (which I have now): easy parking (on street is ok, as long as there's plenty of it) no more than 4 units in the building (I prefer 4-plexs or smaller, no more big boxy buildings for me) private entrance decent sized kitchen Just about everything else is negotiable. |

Any bathroom rules? (i.e. tub AND shower, with sink or separate sink area) I think I am happy with a shower. Neighbors/neighborhood - pro's & cons? Maybe apartments that are strict on noise, visitors, high security. Balconies - a must? I don't really care for those. What about parking? I think assigned parking is great! why? Some phobia? I'm on the 5th... a few minutes later...now that I think about it..i wouldn't want to be too far up either... [Edited 5/8/07 16:09pm]
