babies

I never used to care much for them one way or another. I mean, I never wanted one of my own ever either. I would get annoyed when I'd go to family functions (and now friend functions as well) when a new baby was in tow and all anyone would do is play pass the baby all the livelong day. And you can't avoid it. mad

Perhaps it's hormonal. But somehow my aversion is now gone. I got to hold my friends newborn on Tuesday evening. And he is seriously, seriously precious. mushy

Has anyone else overcome a baby aversion? smile

PS - Please excuse my hair. I've been growing it out and it's in an awkward stage. Thanks.

mushy very cute, they are great little things, babies. I know what you mean about the aversion. I don't think it's so much the baby people are against it is what happens to the adults around them that is pretty horrific.

That's a very cute picture. smile

I've never had anything against babies other than what you mentioned, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't stop me from having one. If I did have one though and it turned into the happiness of my life which I'm sure it would, I'm also sure there would be days when I'd wish I could book a one-way ticket to the other side of the planet. I think most parents experience those days.

Never had an aversion. I'm always drawn to them. Mon even more so. Wherever we go and there's a cute baby there Mon always has to ask how old it is and start playing with it, whether the parents want her to or not. lol

Thanks for the compliments, guys. smile

When I sit back and think objectively, I'm about 85% sure I don't want children. I think if I want to stay that way I'm going to have to keep away from the babies from now on. lol

That's pretty much my idea too. lol. Toddlers are so much more fun.
I've thought about foster care for a while now too... I mean, for someday, anyway.

I never much cared for babies or kids either....
but I think once the aversion is gone.....it's gone for good.
I used to think "they're not even cute, they're loud and messy" but now, I look at a baby and think how could you NOT think they are cute? mushy
I think you will have a child/children someday carrie....you look totally in love with that baby in the pic biggrin

I had a SERIOUS baby aversion for years. My mother was certifiably baby crazy and took her baby obsession to a sickening level. So for years, I actually avoided infants. Just...ewwww.

BUT...

My sister had a baby a few years ago and I spent Thanksgiving 2005 playing with him...and I had an absolute ball. I'm fairly certain I don't want kids of my own, but other people's babies are OK. At least in moderate doses.

Coincidently,
I just finished purusing over some periodicals that were chock full of controversial pictorials of where babies come from.

What a cute picture! mushy I've overcome an aversion to babies too. Babies used to make me nervous, because I never knew what to do around them, especially when they would start to fuss or cry. I think it's because I wasn't around little babies a lot growing up.

Well, all that changed when my oldest nephew was born. mushy I remember the first time I tried to hold him, I was as nervous as anything. My family was all around me, coaching me, and telling me, "Be sure to support his head! Hold him the same way you would hold one of your cats." lol Thinking back on it now makes me laugh, because now whenever I see a baby, I want to pick it up and cuddle it. Funny how that happens. I love feeding babies their bottles, even burping them, but I will not change their diapers. lol

so cute...maybe you'll have one some day Carrie.....They are a precious gift...it took me and my husband a long time to have our 2 babies, I had alot of problems...but it was worth it...giving birth and raising and caring for a baby are precious times

But they do grow up and get smart ass mouths too....but that goes with the territory wink

i think babies are like what they said about farts in that one austin powers movie: everyone loves their own brand.

it's easy to look at a picture a co-worker brought in of their new niece/nephew/grandchild/etc. and think "yeah, that's a baby, great", but when it's YOUR niece/nephew/grandchild/etc., and you're actually able to view the little runts in person, all of a sudden it's the most amazing thing ever and nobody could ever possibly understand how fantastically magically miraculous it is.

of course, some people just like babies as a general concept, and good for them i guess. i'm that way with kittens. redface

it only really bugs me when people bring their babies to work to show off. i feel like they're pimping their child and that i'm under some obligation to fawn over it, when baby worship is like the last thing on my mind at work at the moment.

i do like teaching babies how to stick their tongues out at their parents. i've gotten yelled at for that before. redface
