Ever been on a terrible holiday? A horrible, obligatory business trip?

Tell me all about it, and post pics if possible. What made it so awful?

Are the trips something that occur regularly (i.e. for business)? - I think those are the worst.

For me, I can't stand doing my visa runs to Penang, Malaysia. I've been there maybe 15 times now and though it's not the most horrible place in the world, it's extremely boring for me now I've seen everything there is to see. I hardly ever have enough money to enjoy myself, and if I did I wouldn't spend it in that place anyway. I end up sat in my shit 5GBP a night hotel room eating crisps (potato chips) and trying to sleep all through the day to pass the time. I worked out that I'd got my budget for food and drink down to 2.50GBP a day! So you can imagine what kind of life I had for 4 days. Still it wasn't a cheap trip as I had to rearrange my flight twice, the second time in fact voiding my return and buying a new one. This last trip I think my mind went a bit funny too. I was a total recluse.

OK, in 2001, we bought tickets to travel to Argentina for 6 weeks. We were due to depart on a Friday. On the Tuesday prior, I went to the doc and she told me I was 7 weeks pregnant.
I got the OK to go, but spent the whole time over there, nauseous and vomiting - it was like a 6 week hangover in a place where you open the fridge and you know an apple or a ham/cheese sandwich isn't going to stay down, it has to be a greasy hamburger. Needless to say I should just have camped out at Burger King. Somehow I managed to come home weighing less than I left, which was a bit of a worry.

And sorry to hear about your trip. That indeed sounds like a nightmare. For my trip, I definitely wasn't pregnant, so that's a plus I guess.

I didn't want to see the horror that was my hotel room. Put it this way, it was like a cheaper, worse version of this one I stayed in last time. Almost identical, in fact, but not as nicely finished walls and had holes in the ceiling where rain would drip down. Like this, but not as nice:
