Well that model at the bottom doesn't make any sense. There the moon's axis is almost parallel to the Earth's axis. hmm

Okay now I'm confused. Just because the pictures are un-rotated doesn't mean the axis is not in the middle from our viewpoint, right? Maybe just a tiny bit (I can see some white between one of the dark spots and the edge in one of the pictures but not the other), but it's sure not a lot.

Anyway, I guess I should go study moonography or whatever it might be called...

nod Looking at these photos, and the fact that we never see the other hemisphere makes me think too it spins on an axis perpendicular to maybe our equator eek wow!

Thailand is in the northern hemisphere isn't it? I wonder if the moon looks different from up there? Sweden even more so - go look out your window tonight, take a photo and report back.

Edit: I stand corrected. Yes, northern hemisphere. eek

The top one makes sense though, it just doesn't really address what we've been talking about.

all I want is a diagram to show the angle of the moon's axis - is that too difficult? lol

It's pretty crazy that almost all the landmass on the planet is on the northern hemisphere. I don't know where the continental drift is going, but maybe the Aussies will eventually be left alone down there, making it look like their entire continent forgot to use cologne or something.

lol

I would've sworn blind that Thailand was in the southern hemisphere. In fact, I did before I edited. The south of Thailand is pretty close to the equator though. Only a few hundred miles.

I'm not reading the whole thread, but just the title made me think of that song..

"It's a lovely night for a moon dance..."

Or something like that and now this song, that I really don't know the words for is replaying over and over in my head.

Great...

look it different sides of the moon are showing! eek

Actually I think it's the same side, only one of the pictures is turned 90 degrees. Fauxie's pic is turned yet another notch, so it seems like the moon is rolling across the sky. eek

They're all beautiful either way. nod

OK you are all gonna think I am an idiot nutty

the feb shot I took facing west, the may shot I took facing east. So really turn one around 180° to compare properly. I couldn't get to sleep last night once I realised that, I am such a nerd mad
