The title of this thread had me thinking of a nuclear family of people moonwalking MJ style through the park! lol

I love moon lit walks in the park like anyone else. . .but I have to actually moonwalk with my moon walk! lol

TOO FUNNY!

Actually I think it's the same side, only one of the pictures is turned 90 degrees. Fauxie's pic is turned yet another notch, so it seems like the moon is rolling across the sky. eek

They're all beautiful either way. nod

So, according to YOUR "theory" there would be a dark side of the moon we never see rolleyes

Well excuse me, Mr Moon Expert. I didn't know the moon's axis is always smack dab in the middle. One would have assumed it had at least a bit of a tilt. shrug

nope I just went and checked the way I shot them eek and they are in fact both un-rotated, so the moons axis must tilt, just as the earth's does! I mean different angles, not sides redface

and yes pandy, we never ever see the other side of the moon, EVER, but I saw it on the telly once and it looks pretty boring shrug

We just walk a few hundred metres down the street and look at the other side. shrug

Actually, I think my picture may just be of a dirty street lamp. hmmm

Okay now I'm confused. Just because the pictures are un-rotated doesn't mean the axis is not in the middle from our viewpoint, right? Maybe just a tiny bit (I can see some white between one of the dark spots and the edge in one of the pictures but not the other), but it's sure not a lot.

Anyway, I guess I should go study moonography or whatever it might be called...

nod Looking at these photos, and the fact that we never see the other hemisphere makes me think too it spins on an axis perpendicular to maybe our equator eek wow!

Thailand is in the northern hemisphere isn't it? I wonder if the moon looks different from up there? Sweden even more so - go look out your window tonight, take a photo and report back.

What is it that you still have no idea about? I think the info about the 2 degrees pretty much solves it, right?
