I become very nostalgic when I think of where I lived in Mexicali. I've always wanted to visit that house.

nod I used to have record hunts where I'd drive up to Minneapolis and hit all the used record stores I could. I found a good portion of my collection that way (before I started selling some of it off).

I also miss being a Trek fan in the early 90s. To me, those were some of the best years of Star Trek. These days, I'm not even interested in going to a Trek con anymore. confused

yeah, i get nostalgic about going on vinyl digs when i was in high school, back when people still listened to vinyl out of necessity and it wasn't a cool/retro/collector-ish thing to do. i used to love hunting down el cheapo david bowie compilation albums for 2.99 and 3.99...of course, they were cut-outs then and they're collector's items now. shrug

* Autumn as a kid - The leaves, the smell, jack-o-lanterns, cider, the crisp air and Jewish sukkot just really remind me of being a kid in my old neighborhood around this time of year.

* Constellations - By 2nd grade, I could navigate the entire circumpolar sky, and I was really proud of it. I've sinced lost that useless talent. sigh But seeing Orion, for example, just sends me back.

* Vinyl - Nuff said.

* My mother's cooking.

* 1984 -- The music, the tacky clothes, ninjas! lol Best time of my life.

* Fiction -- Certainly no time to read that stuff nowdays.

* Feeling young -- I fell up the stairs about a year ago, and instead of catching myself with my hands, I totally took that fall, concentrating rather on not dropping my milk and cookies. lol Years ago, I'd have sprung right back up, but that was perhaps the first fall that I actually FELT. I lay there for several minutes thinking, "Wow... I'm finally getting old."

Oh, and the smell of Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap and marijuana. I had a couple pothead friends in undergrad. Never got high with them, but they always had such an interesting smell. lol

old video games and actually going to arcades and watching the older kids go at it with each other
cheesy 80's movie
my old neighborhood and the silly shit that used to happen.

Recent....but I actually miss living on campus. omfg I miss being at an arm's reach of everything and I actually miss the assholes being loud and showing out in the middle of the night. I didn't really care for living on campus when I was actually there, but now I think about the actual good time I had there. I really miss this bagel place on campus (Toasted blueberry bagel with strawberry smear and fruit cocktail was my fav. cloud9). They had the best bagels and whenever I'd go home on weekends I'd always get a big bag of a dozen bagels for everyone. I also miss getting fattening breakfast at the campus cafeteria after my morning class. Oh my god, those biscuits with gravy were so good....and the pancakes were delicious too drool the grits drool the bacon drool the scrambled eggs drool

Weeky trips to the bowling alley with my late dad to play video games while he bowled in leagues.
Hoolahooping in front of the house.
Tv shows especially from the late 70's - mid 80's when they air on TV Land and Nick At Nite, On Demand, or coming out on dvd.
Music from that period as well. Sometimes certain colognes and purfumes triggers random childhood memories.

I miss having grandparents and great aunt to visit after church for dinner, or to stay for a couple of days.
I miss having friends nearby to visit when there was nothing to do. I was nostalgic at the beginning of the baseball season when I remembered going to Giants games in high school with my best friends and we were all into the same things back then.

Alright after bumming myself out, I'm going to eat a Klondike Oreo bar.

Summertime. I remember most of them, all the way from grade school until last year. But the summer of 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2005 I remember the most. Very special summers...
