Spring Guests :-)

oh god i leave everything to the last minute

tonight i'm invited, for the second time, to an evening of fun entertainment
at a friend's house.

it's based on the principle of a dutch all nite talkshow that shows once a
month in the summer called "Summer Guests".

the show features one person (usually writer, filmer, bussiness mogul etc),
and one host sitting at a table and the guest brings along fragments from
tvshows and films or documentaries etc and after each clip is shown, the
host asks questions and the guest explains why he picked this clip etc etc

it's really nice show nod

so my friends got together and arranged this sorta thing at their house.

all of us bring along 3 clips of whatever we want and then we all take a
turn and show 1 clip at a time to the group whilst one of us -usually the
insanely funny Wilfred- hosts the evening, lol.

i couldn't believe how interesting and hilarious it was first time round
and i think it might be a nice idea for folks to do at their homes with
friends.

it's very entertaining and by means of the clips people pick and the sort
of questions you can ask them relating to those you get to know stuff
about your closest friends that you never knew before.

for tonight we've branched out and everyone is supposed to take one item
of food and one item of drink that they really enjoy or are hooked on at
the moment. that way there'll even be snacks with a story, lol.

thing is though that, lazy cunt that i am, i have to leave in 10 minutes
and i still haven't picked the last 2 clips.

argh i'm going insane right now and instead of looking for clips i just
posted this long ass thread.

omfg

i just realised that i put my favorit drinks in the freezer this morning
to chill them before i'd put them in the coolbox.

now they're all frozen solid lol.

so whilst i look for the last 2 clips i've got to put those bottles in
the bathtub to defrost

falloff

i think i'm gonna pick a clip from La Haine as it's my fav movie and
perhaps something funny from seinfeld or abfab to lighten the mood.

last year i took some clips that people were kinda stunned by lol

first one was from the movie La Pianiste and the scene where the
lady piano teacher goes to the porn cinema and gets in a cubicle
to masturbate as she watches porn and sniffs cum tissues

falloff

second was bjork's video for "all is full of love" which no one
had seen before. everyone was mezmerised and wanted to watch it
again and again

cool

last one was from my fav series ever, "I Claudius". i don't think
people really got what i was trying to say with it as they were
no doubt expecting more masturbating piano teachers or lesbian
robots making out to electronic beats

Lars, you would have *loved* what I saw earlier... falloff

My housemate and I went out on the town last night woot! and, a few hours ago, she came crawling into my bedroom asking if I'd like to go for a drive to McDonalds. I hardly ever eat there so it's a rare 'treat' and I was slightly hungover so, obviously, I jumped at the chance. lol

Anyway, the one we went to is on the side of this insanely busy road with a table/bench outside. As we drove in there was these two women - mother and daughter, I think - sitting at this table wearing slippers, pjyamas and frigging dressing gowns. I was, like. 'WTF?!'. falloff disbelief They just sat there, in front of all these passing cars, as if they were waiting for the kettle to boil. lol

I was dying to go up and ask if I could take a picture but I couldn't bring myself to do it. lol

I know. confused This was about 11am in the morning, as well! My housemate and I were gobsmacked - I *wish* I'd got a picture of me sitting in between them. giggle

What I want to know is did they order their meals via the drive-through, then go to the bench? Or did they park their car and go into the restaurant, shuffling in their slippers?? falloff Classy. lol

Did *you* have a nice night? smile hug

ROFL. I bet they walked into the restaurant. They know no shame, I'm sure biggrin

My night was real nice. It was so nice that we rolled out of Wilfred's house
at about 4 AM. (we planned to finish by 1 AM).

The rest of the weekend was just spent by me and joris sitting at home or us
taking some walks and just relaxing in the garden with a book or in front of
the telly.

That show is effing RUBBISH!! lol I'm sorry, but what are the chances of two middle-aged crime-fighters (i.e. nosey old biddies) meeting up in a small country town - one called 'Rosemary' and the other called 'Thyme'. Ridiculous! falloff disbelief

it's basically where all the 60+ ladies come to my mum's house, have too many wines and then my mum tried to help them knit their way out of the birdsnests they have created. That is 6 less old biddies out there snooping around.
