alot of todays comedy films really insult me. i can't watch 4 too long cause then i can feel my IQ drop. I like intelligent comedy, comedy with a purpose or message like Chaplain's "the Great Dictator" or something, not todays stuff where crap is just put together. "So shall it be written, so shall it be sung..."

Maybe Chaplain was a laugh-fest in the early 20th century, but he doesn't do it for me. Good at stunts though. I'm not against old comedy though. Laurel and Hardy had some piss funny moments

I went to see this film called ´Broken Arrow´ with Christian Slater and John Travolta. It was ridiculous really. There was one car chase scene where Christian Slater jumped mid-air and caught a gun, landed on the bonnet of John Travolta`s truck, fired at the windscreen but nothing happened. John Travolta said to his co-driver, ´dont worrry, bullet proof glass` or something similar. There's Joy In Expatriation.

Laurel and Hardy had some piss funny moments well wat does that say abt the quality of comedy these days? yes, times change, but ppl still look to the past for inspiration- which shows that the comedy today isn't all that good if we keep having to go back and look at stuff thats already been done. Anx said: really, most "right wing vs. left wing" documentaries tend to disappoint me and insult my intelligence. regardless of which direction the agenda leans, they always use the same tactics and heavyhanded propagandist tricks to spoonfeed their opinions right down my throat, and i hate that. i like films that leave things WIDE OPEN for me to make my own conclusions. to be honest, this is why i've been hesitating about watching "an inconvenient truth", though i've been told it's a cut above the rest.
See it and judge for yourself. It's really worth that. And tt's really about the planet much more than the politics. People who dismiss it as propaganda and speak of "lemmings" have no actual facts on their side. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

I just told him how much I loved Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks and I didn't have to lie about liking Inland Empire. even his most ridiculously obtuse work doesn't INSULT my intelligence, though. I think that's key. They challenge your intelligence. Even if you say you hated it you feel more intelligent for having seen through the sybolism and pretense (I haven't seen Inland Empire, BTW).
