Goin' Digital...

If any of you have a great little digital camera...one that's fairly
inexpensive, takes great pictures, and most of all, easy to use...would
you mind sharing vital statistics?

Ok, Go Sony.
Their Carl Zeiss lenses are the best. The results often seem like magazine shots.

From Fuji, Sony & Panasonic that I've used, the Sony was te best. It was so good, that my whole family bought all kinds of models according to budet and they're all happy.

It's all regional. In Lancashire, the crossover from terrestrial will take place in 2009 and those numpties down south should follow suit in about 2012.

I just got eh Sony H5...LOVE it so far! It's the last years model though. The H7 comes out in a couple weeks. 8megapixels 15x Optical Zoom (DO NOT USE the digital zoom!! It will only pixilate your pics) and lottsa fun features.

The Canons are also really good and somewhat less expensive. I was looking at one when I ended up with the Sony.

i bought canon - the a520
of course, as soon as you buy one there will be a model out that is bigger and better.
mine was $250 and was bundled with a printer. (it's a year and a half old now)

4 megapixels and 4x optical zoom
i like all the pictures i have taken with it
but of course it would be lovely to have higher of both.

what i like about my camera -

it uses SD cards for storage. they are very affordable these days. i have two 512mb cards and haven't had the opportunity to even begin to max them out.

it runs on AA batteries. i bought a rechargable set which is useful because digital cams use energy rather quickly. however if i am away from home and use up my rechargables i am not stuck to a charger till the battery pack is juiced back up. i can keep snapping as long as i can get my hands on a couple duracells smile

Make sure you have image stabilisation.

My Olympus SP500uz is a nice enough camera, but you have to be able to meditate for 10 minutes, slow your breathing down to once a minute and shut down most of your vital organs in order to get a good shot.

From the cameras I've had and ones I've tried out, Nikons are my favourite.

The Panasonic I tried last year wasn't too bad either. FZ-5 I think it was? It's probably pretty cheap now. Could be an out of date model by now and no longer produced though.

Pix are great...shot on Auto Mode. I was an idiot and didn't read the manual. Couldn't find how to adjust the Manual settings doh! Still took about 400 keepers smile

The pic of the ringtailed lemurs was taken through the mesh fence. The camera can focus *past* the screen so you don't see it. Pretty freakin' cool!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the image stabilization. I shake. The pics don't thumbs up!

Should also mention that the Sony H5 takes 2 AA batteries. Comes with 2 Sony batteries and a charger. I also used my Energizer rechargables. Pretty decent life on 'em. And how hard is it to carry an extra set of AAs?
