 It makes less sense when you start talking about other halves, other parts and making one complete. Because I truly feel and believe, in my own spiritual structure, that we ARE already complete, we ARE the Absolute before it fell into parts.
The language that works best for me, is the idea of reflection. That a soulmate reflects the Absolute in you, the true you. So that when you are with them, you are more aware of your divine nature, you can actually see yourself better. That there is a purity and clarity in perception between you, undistorted by ego and selfish desires and psychological projections. It's a way of seeing each other. I have many very good friends who see parts of me, but precious few, if any, who can see all of me. Especially because I'm so strange.  Dammit, I tried so hard! I haven't had serious discussion on the Org for YEARS I tell you so thank you for making me!

You mention your mother being a soulmate....my father is one of mine, and he's gone now...it was a stormy relationship, but not necessarily bad. It was extremely hard for me when he died. Anyway thank you, yes I do believe that...something else that happened is my father came back to me in spirit form about six weeks after he died...I was concerned about "where" he was, and he reassured me that everything was OK.. after that, I was much more at peace. | |

I myself don't necessarily believe that there is only one soulmate..and a soulmate to me does not necessarily mean that it's your lover, you husband, your wife. It could be a brother, a friend, a father, a mother, etc. That's the exact reason why we can have many soulmates....I feel like I have two so far..... Yes I was reading about different types of soul mates and they may be anyone, not just someone you are attracted to in a romantic/sexual way...one of mine was a friend who helped me...I was reading about the types of soulmates who you helped in a past life and then you meet again and it is their turn to offer you guidence or assistance. We have reached concurrance! To be honest, I am attracted to the ideas you speak of and am hoping to explore relationships, especially a love relationship, in those terms. I feel my understanding and outlook on life and others is changing a lot these days and I'm growing more into accepting the idea of "spiritual complements". I hope i can find this and discover it to be true.  I still have a lot to learn and I need to study that link that statuesqque provided, because it draws from my own tradition but discusses something I don't really have a handle on. I have enough questions to not dismiss it yet, and the question of a twin soul intrigues me, I have to admit. It's the cynic in me breaking down, with doubt leading to faith. | |
