Food Poisoning So I got food poisoning this week from eating at a restaurant Sunday night.
It was not pretty. Not pretty at all. I know it was food poisoning because, well...without getting too graphic, the symptoms were pretty intense for two days, then quickly improved. Also, the same damn thing happened to me about five years ago. From the same restaurant. I *thought* it was just a fluke after the first time I got sick, which is why I opted to eat there again half a decade later - but I think this place is skanky and toxic and awful, even though it's a really nice looking joint and the food doesn't taste half bad on the way down. I'm thinking about it, though...should I contact this restaurant and let them know I've gotten food poisoning from them TWICE? I googled them and read other customer reviews of the place, and apparently I'm not the only person to get sick from their food. If you know a restaurant gave you food poisoning more than once, what would you do? Other than not eat there again, of course

i don't wanna get into any trouble but if you take the zodiacal sign of my avatar and add the last syllable of "sha-na-na" and put an apostrophe-s at the end, you'll have your answer.

the only thing i'm afraid of with complaining is that i'll discover that the reason i get sick from their food is because of the beef fat content in their recipes, especially the ones that are listed as "vegetarian" or "vegan".
of course, i should be well within my rights to complain if this is the case, but i think in the current cultural climate, the response would be "that's not really food poisoning, and it's also not our problem." if a restaurant can get in trouble for sneaking meat product into items they list as veggie-friendly, i've yet to hear about such a precedent. which SUCKS.

I love that place nad have NEVER EVER had anything but good food from them. I suppose I should pick a different place next time huh? Wait didn't you eat there last year? Anyhoo...this is not good news for me as I love that place. And forget about calling the health inspectors, I doubt they'll find anything. I would call them and tell them. Though all they are going to do is offer you another meal. Could be a funky chef that was a wee bit sick. I seriously doubt it's their food. [Edited 4/18/07 10:28am] Christian Zombie Vampires

Do you really think they do that? Sorry, for sticking up for them, but I am having a hard time with this. I think they are pretty good with keeping vegan and veggie just that. [Edited 4/18/07 10:28am] yeah, i did eat there last year but i remember being fairly careful about what i ate (though i think i was somewhat less cautious about their bar, ha), and this added to my assumption that 'the coast was clear' in terms of eating there again. it's a good place, especially for big groups. but it's not worth getting sick for. i've lost about 7 pounds in the last two days.

Stop eating falafel. It's only for people with strong stomachs for middle eastern foods.

I feel for you ANX. I had it prior to the WINTER BALL at Muse's. I appologize to my hotel mates. It wasn't pretty. I was just getting over it. I got it from a sandwich from 7-11. Never again.

I definitely would make the restaurant aware of it (especially since other people have gotten sick from their food). I would also contact the Health Department. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Hi ! Sounds awful, hope you´ll recover and get well real soon... Wasn´t there something about McDonald´s paying quite a bit of money to some Hindus years ago because they were using beef fat for their french fries ? That might be a precedent but I´m not a 100% sure. Just ask Matt..he knows quite a lot about law, colas and fastfood trivia. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

M WHY would you eat a 7-11 sandwich?! I like their mystery meat burgers. I get 2 for 30 baht (just under a dollar). It's like the culinary version of driving your car really fast at night with your lights off. And the self-serve salad elements if you want even more danger - tomatoes, lettuce, onion - what a rush! Who knows what'll happen!

Now this IS something I would wish on my worst enemy because having both holes erupting at the same time is just horrible!! They smell funny ( not bad, but strange), sell weird food ( who would buy a hotdog there?) and the colorful pastry and other baked goods are a sight to behold. And they have really exotic energy drinks. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Odd buns with green stuff in. Normal looking loaves of bread that in fact have sugar on them. I like the energy drinks. Not Red Bull or M-150 or whatever it's called, but Sponsor and the Amino-Ok ones. They do these sour lemon type ones that are great!
