What Is The Scariest Horror Film You've Ever Seen? Not just “gore” or “slasher films”, those movies that just really scare the crap out of you! The “mind fucks”; the ones that make you all scared and afraid to go outside alone.
I can think of a few that actually fit this category (in no particular order). The Shining Stanley Kubrick, director Jack Nicholson, Shelly Duvall and Scatman Crothers, actors. 1980 The Exorcist William Friedkin, dirctor Linda Blair, Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow, actors 1973 Jaws Steven Spielberg, director Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, actors 1975 Phantasm Don Coscarelli, director A. Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornberry, actors 1979 These are just a few that I remember right off the bat. Again, not because of gore or massive blood – but, because they truly scared me! Of course, I saw a lot of these when I was younger. I’ve watched a good portion of them again within the last year or so, and still found them to be scary. Your thoughts? If you wish to participate, try and keep the same format I’ve begun. I’m really interested in your thoughts! |

The Japanese Ring movies creep me the fuck out, which I appreciate immensely cos I like to experience extreme emotions. Also the Japanese One Missed Call, same. American so called horror movies just make me go most of the time even though I like the american remakes of Ring 1 and 2 as well. Oh, and (of course by now) the Japanese The Grudge, but Grudge 2 was just milking imo.

The first "Halloween". When Michael Myers went down for the first time, I couldn't help shout at the screen, "He's not dead! He's not dead!"
"The Blair Witch Project". I saw it in the middle of the day, and then went to play golf. I was on the 13 tee box when I realized what all the handprints were in that room. I had to back off the tee box and shake it off. And then I made a bogie, LOL. And "Jaws". Man, I cannot describe the feeling the first time I went waterskiing after seeing that movie. Getting in the water was the freakiest thing ever.

The Shining scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. My mother should have been charged with child abuse for taking us to see it!
I remember the Silence of the Lambs freaked out the whole audience when the lights went out and the guy was looking at her with the night vision goggles. My Legacy

I was little when I first saw it (actually my brother made me watch it) that flying ball with the spike in it AND somebody in the family came up with the rule that all horror/scary movies had to be watched in the dark... I mean all the lights in the house were off... crazy ass people I lived with.
