Help! I Feel Dowdy!

I have a major problem-a bulge just below my navel. It really bothers me and takes happiness out of my life. I'm trying so hard to have that perfect body. There are so many reasons my stomach fat must go:

-It's the only truely awful part of my body
-My sister called me fat. It'd be nice to get a body she could only dream of
-Some of my pants are too tight
-All the newest clothes are designed for people w/o stomach fat
-With my luck if I get a boyfriend he'll like going to the pool or boating or some other God-awful bathing required activity (I don't want to have to wear a dowdy skirted one piece w/ a stomach control panel-I want to wear a bikini and look like a Bond girl in it)

I'd LOVE to get rid of it (or at least reduce it). Does anyone know exercises that actually work for the lower abs?

If it doesn't fit, it's ugly anyway.

You haven't even had kids yet either.

Stop worrying about things that don't matter in the end. neutral

There is no such thing as exercises that target certain areas for weight loss.

You have to do lots of cardio and eat a healthy balanced diet.

If you want to tone your muscles in that area do crunches.

What she said.

Plus:

WHAT? Taking the happiness out of your life? If not having washboard abs is your biggest problem, most of the world would be thrilled to be you. rose

I do lots of cardio (40 minutes a day) My diet does leave something to be desired but it's not my fault I have no willpower (it's just a cross I have to bare). I tried crunches they do nothing for me. The only ab exercise I've found that I can feel the burn down that far I HATE I feel surgery is cheating and it's expensive. Not having a flat stomach is a big deal I've been trying for eight years to get one and shopping for clothes is a nightmare and men are so shallow they want a centerfold of their own.
If it doesn't fit, it's ugly anyway.

Honestly, if you are not wiling to do the work to have the "perfect body" you so long for, you really have no right to whine and complain.

Or at least, you deserve an " rolleyes " from everyone you talk to about it.

I'm willing to work. As a matter of fact, in the past six weeks I lost 2 inches off my thighs. Somedays the cardio is very hard for me (but I do it anyway) I just feel I shouldn't have to do more than an hour of exercise a day. I don't want to have to eat salads all the time (I don't like lettuce). I'd like to be able to have willpower and be able to eat french fries a couple times a month if I want to. Sometimes I can talk myself out of eating/buying crappy food so maybe there's hope. But my abs are so depressing.

That's just the way the cookie crumbles. Some people have to work harder than others, that's just the way it is....sucks but, oh well.

If it's that important to you to have a great body that guys will drool over, then you have to invest the time to get there. I saw more "I don't want to"s than "I am willing to", so I guess you'll never have that flat tummy and I guess you'll never be happy.

More important to me than the attention of men is fitting into some of my pants better. I do tend to refer to my lower abs as "the carb holder" maybe all I have to do is talk myself out of buying chips. Too much salt makes me bloat big time.

If you're still eating chips there's no way you're doing everything you can to adjust your diet lol

Working out will NOT matter much if you blow it w/ what you put in your mouth - you're not gonna lose, you're more likely to just maintain your current weight. Be honest w/ yourself about what you're taking in vs. the calories you're burning.

How intense are the 40 minutes per day? How many calories to you burn? & how much are you fucking that up by eating bad stuff?

Have you cut out fried stuff? Do you prepare your food in low fat ways? You mentioned fries - hang that fast food shit up immediately! lol Do you drink soda? What kind of meat do you eat? How many veggies?

question

I don't complain anymore - I know when I'm fucking up & I get on the elliptical & I just have to stick to it (this time for real!). I've gotten to the point where I've cut out everything I can & my diet is what it is (egg whites, wheat everything, non-fat everything, etc), the rest has GOT to be exercise & I just have to do it.

You'll see better results if you take a good look @ what you're eating & stop kidding yourself... "chips", please! They better be soy! lol

I'd say my 40 minutes of jump roping are moderatly intense. I read it burns about 10 calories a minute. I quit eating at a certain place because the serving size was too big. I don't drink soda, I don't eat meat and I eat the occassional baked potato (w/ nothing on it) and cucumber.

That sounds nice but plain/fat people have to work harder to get ahead in life and keep men. So I have to be worried.

What? What about personality, charisma, charm, kindness etc etc etc.. the list goes on..

if you feel you have to be drop dead gorgeous and slim then you better be posting on the shallow women thread

you do realise you have just cussed out all plain/fat women here?

get a grip girl..start accepting you for you.. THATS what keeps a man interested.. not how you look but how you feel abouit youself and how you portray yourself..

you have clearly been reading too many magazines, watching too much tv.. look at yourself, accept how you are.. if no man wants you for yourself then he isnt worth having anyway

remember that.. you are beautiful as you are! rose hug

I'm very nice believe it or not. I'm not shallow but I have to live in a world that shallow men live in too ( I can't stand being judged harshly). I didn't mean to cuss out anyone actually I don't care about other people's weight, just mine (it's the one I can do something about) I do watch too much tv but I don't eat while I do that. I'll be dropping two magazine subscriptions soon.

I just meant that the media and tabloids really focus too much on size zero models, and really they are not happy, nor are they healthy. Do you really want a shallow bf? No matter how slim gorgeous you are they would still pick at you.. you dont need that.. just be yourself, you seem nice enough and friendly, so why not start with some gentle exercise and eat as you would but adjust slightyly to a more healthy regime.. its much easier that way.. you cannot expect results over night but doing it this way means it will make you happier and you will keep the weight off for good if you stick at it.. and in the meantime write a list of all the good things about you, and focus on them.. dont keep picking at your bad points cos you will make yourself ill..

and when you start to appreciate yourself for the great person you are, you in turn will attract better men. If you are down on yourself you will just find shits, who will damage your self conscious more.. so just got out with your friends, have fun and the right guy will come along without you even looking for him smile

hug Good Luck!

I don't want a shallow boyfriend. I just don't want to be looked down on by anyone.I don't expect to wake up a size 4. I'd just like to lose at least an inch from my waist and my hips by the middle of next month. That's my current goal and when I reach that I'll make another

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that or even wanting to look the very, very best you can...for whatever reason.

Just be willing to do the work, or accept the way you look now.
