Fasting... I'm about ready to go to my first ever 30-hour famine to help raise money for Africa. I ate at lunch and thats the last thing I can eat until 5 tomorrow night.
This is going to be so hard! I've skipped meals before but I don't think I've ever skipped 3 meals in a row. Have any of you ever fasted? Was it hard? Why did you do it? ect...

Hmmnn,, interesting that you are willing to sacrifice for other peoples suffering. I think that is enough to get you threw. You can do it. and just think how that banana split is going to taste @ 5:01pm tomorrow. Good Luck and Bless U ,,,,, but I personally have never fasted on purpose. Do missed meal cramps count ? Take care HueMan

I've done this before. It was hard because we are used to eating whenever we want. I drank a lot of water and tried not to think about food. I tried to think about the people who don't get enough or any food every day of their lives. Good luck!

When I was a devout Catholic (devout meaning I was young, an altar boy, and living under the constant threat of eternal damnation..... ) I used to fast from 6pm on Holy Thursday to 3:30pm on Good Friday to simulate the hours before the crucifiction....
.....I'd suggest relaxing with some tunes or a good book, drink water and juices without a lot of sugar.....but whatever you do, don't plan your meal for after the fast..... thats gonna make the 30 hours seem like days..... ...Good luck....and good for you for taking up a cause like this.... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.

I use to participate in a yearly fast with my church. The first time I fasted it was a bit of a challenge but became less difficult as time went by. Are you allowed to drink liquids or is it a total fast?

I did the 30 Hour Famine when I was in high school. It was a little difficult for me, because I have blood sugar issues. Luckily, I was allowed fruit juice, so that helped keep my blood sugar up. The hardest part was when my group was sent to do a canned food drive for the Food Bank! Imagine sitting across the room from a huge pile of food, and you still have 5 hours left to go!
Still, it was a goood experience, and for a great cause. Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

You can do it! I know people that fast for weeks at a time. They can only have water with lemon and maple syrup in it or something. I guess it's good for losing weight and cleansing out your system. Eff that, I love food.

Eff that, I love food. And cayenne pepper mixed in as well. And, you have to drink about a pint of sea-salt salt water in the morning, and a cup of senna leaf tea at night. Everyday. You don't get hungry really, but you do miss food, in your mind... But anyways - Good luck, Sara!
