The air and water (in the United States, anyway) are cleaner now than they were even 20 years ago -- despite our population being larger.

I'm terrified for this rock we call home...moreso since I saw 'An Inconvenient Truth'....granted what was pointed out in the movie was enough to make me wear recycled paper undies and what not, but what frightens me more is the ambivalence of government officials and how idiots like Bill O'Reilly try everything they can to discredit environmentalists...they're STILL trying to convince red-staters that the melting polar ice caps is a CYCLICAL thing....which some of them believe....
