I have sent them. But I rarely get gifts, and when I do they aren't of the extravagent kind. And from the friends I do get them, my friends are so informal, they'd find it strange for me to send them a thank you card for, say, a mix CD they made me. I usually make a phone call or send an email or something.

I do give cards from time to time 'just cause' though, as well. I've given cards to apologize to friends in the past and also to just say thanks for being my friend. I'm a nerd like that.
