How sentimental are you?

No, its not a quiz.. shake

But really how sentimental are you?

I think I am pretty much so..

I have kept some birthdays cards over the years

texts that mean alot to me

I did keep a red rose a bf gave to me for years, but then it completely dried up and disintegrated so I had to throw it out

when I was bridesmaid for my best friend, I kept an icing sculpture that her Mum had made and gave to me as a memento

I have alot of letters from friends, filed away

I guess I am just a sentimental old fool.. mushy

what about you? biggrin

A combination of things really. Being let down, trying to hard, thinking whats the point. The usual. I guess I dont want to be reminded of hurt I guess.

Doesnt that mean you are giving in to it all? hug I felt like that, but I cant change who I am and so I just accept it, even though others dont or dont appreiciate it.. its their loss..

I've saved some things, like letters from long ago. I wish I had more pictures from my childhood though, but I've myself to blame for the latter years cos I hated (and still do) to be in pics. shrug

Actually I think I am learning to let go of some things and I am in the process of getting rid of some old sentimental stuff that just stirs up sad feelings.
I have never been a pack rat- I do keep things like special text messages, cards - things like that, that do not take up a lot of space.

I am sentimental.
I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

totally sentimental confused

i can't bear the thought of something that belonged to my grandparents or my parents being sold to a stranger
when the day comes that we have to sell the farm i am going to be lost cry
i have a rock in front of me that is sentimental, another one in my purse.
i keep all the squiggle artwork done by my nieces and nephew
on my fridge right now... a blue piece of paper with a squiggle and a crayon stapled inside... my birthday present from the youngest niece mushy
i've kept every letter ever written to me
only recently have i been able to recycle some cards
i keep movie stubs and concert stubs
every note written to me by an orger is in the book aksel sent me for christmas
i have kept special pieces of clothing, like the outfit i was wearing when i met the duke and duchess of york.
i have a scribbler full of highschool notes tucked away at the farm.

i could go on and on sigh

VERY sentimental. For instance, I am debating whether or not I should be looking for another job out of state, since the economic conditions and jobs here are so bad. I get excited thinking about living in a whole new city, but then I get VERY sentimental. I think about leaving my parents behind (they're in the 70's now and in good health, thank God. But even so, it still would be hard to be so far away from them). I think about how hard it would be to move away from the only city that I've lived in my whole life. I went to school here, have friends here, have lived in this same condo for almost 18 years, so I have a lot of memories, both good and bad. For these reasons, I question whether or not moving out of state would be the right thing for me to do. Would I love it, or would I absolutely hate it and want to move back home, regardless of the lack of jobs here? I wind up feeling confused by it all. confused
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I'm not sentimental about objects, really. I'm not a pack rat. I'll save cute text messages occasionally. But "things" tend to get thrown out.
This doesn't mean I don't apprciate them.

Way too sentimental! So much so that it causes a mess around me lol! I was discussing this with a friend of mine yesterday. For example i still have the bags n stuff from my holiday O/S. It's taking me ages to move things even! I keep shopping bags, product, pieces of paper with scribbles on it...and for everything else i keep cards, letters, i have to force myself to throw away wrapping paper lol, pictures, dried flowers omfg lol!! I just like having them around me they sorta build a mental fortress of security. It's a little bit freaky though and i need to spring clean right now!

I'm pretty similar nod I just went through a bunch of old stuff & had to throw out a TON of papers that don't mean jack shit. So if I can hold onto that stuff for 10 years, imagine the amount of stuff I keep that actually means something to me!! omfg lol

And speaking of shopping bags, I came across one from a store that closed down more years ago than I care to mention! It wasn't even a good bag either, WHY did I keep that?? disbelief

But it's all dust one day. Some things mean so much to me but when I'm gone nobody's gonna care so it's kinda pointless in a way. I wanna be less attached... to things & people...

Same as JD on this one. nod I am quite sentimental deep down - and especially when I'm drunk lol - but I've become less sentimental about ertain things as I've got older. Life, experience, etc has toughened me up quite a bit there. Saying that, I've got tons of crap that I need to get rid of. lol so yes and no, it's there.

Yeah i know me too! I wonder often if i'll just become like Andy Warhol lol that would not be good! Seriously Í sit there cleaning and think 'okay will the giver or the reminder of this object keep the same thing just coz they want that reminder of me and/or that event that it reminds them of?...If not then it goes in the 'maybe ready to throw out'pile ...i have three piles one saying 'definitely collecting dust for no reason' 'collecting dust but may want to still keep for another 5 years' lol and 'hell no i'm not throwing that one out!' nod thumbs up!
