the thread on RPGs - made me think of ... my fav computer game that i never play ....

i got half life a few yrs ago --- loved it ... but i never got into it SO MUCH that i played online (i wish i could ) ...

then i got HL 2 --- and i could never get it to work !!! i even later had a computer made with the right video card and all --- still could not get it to work !!! then i chatted with some people that were telling me how neat it was to play online with others .. etc ...

never played it yet ... if you have not ... have u played any other games like it ? recommend any??

Yes, played and completed both - great fun!

Games like it? For story or just gameplay? Far Cry's a fucking awesome game.

do you play online ? with multiple players etc ?

i have seen the ads for counterstrike ... how is that different than half life ??? i guess i should say HL 2 , right?

It's much faster paced. The only thing that is the same is the engine; i.e. what's powering the backend. Counterstrike is solely multiplayer maps of up to 40 players with 2 teams; terrorists and counter-terrorists. You basically have a fixed number of rounds where you each team fights the other to the death, or acheives certain objectives such as planting/defusing a bomb, or holding/rescuing hostages. It's amazing in short. :p

when you do play those games alot ... do you ever have feelings ... not really of going post ... but ... like you are "in " the game ... hard to explain ... but when i was playing half life- i remember doing things at work and thinking of that game ....

well ... this is gonna sound funny ... but remember in the game when you climb up above the ceiling ... like between the drop ceiling and the top of the ceiling .... alot of times things jump out at ya ... or ... you are sneaking around ...

well .. in my office when i used to go upstairs ... i used to sometimes think of that ... when i would see the drop ceiling that was unfinished ... like ... hmmm... i could jump in there and crawl ...
