Who Uses Air Filters? Second installment in my Filter Thread trilogy (coming soon: paper vs. gold coffee filters!)
My girlfriend & I have bad allergies. She's really suffering right now, and I'm thinking of getting a room air filter Do you have them, and do they make any noticeable difference? What kind do you recommend? My Legacy

I don't think you want to go to the valley in that case. The air can be horrible there. I never really had them growing up in LA, but they got worse when I moved to Berkeley (but they may have started in LA, I'm not sure). I wonder if we get used to the stuff in our area. I'm okay most of the time, but when spring rolls around I have a few miserable weeks. Also we're allergic to our cat. My Legacy

I could offer some info right here, but I will refrain. Suffice to say, my allergies have been a little better lately.

I was actually much worse at the end of the year and the very beginning of this year. Haven't been quite as awful lately. Thanks for the tip on the Valley.

What kind do you recommend? brilliant x 1,000,000,000 Get a HEPA Air Filter. There's a nice one at walmart for 80 bucks. And one for 30 bucks (for smaller rooms). It cost about `10 bucks a month for the air filter, but that's worth it for breathing better. The Ionic Breeze is great, but very expensive and has been shown to be no more effective than the HEPA air filters which cost less, despite with Ionic breeze lovers say.

if you talk to your allergy doctor- he/she can suggest a couple of air filters and maybe a cupon off for one. I tried filters and they don't work for me in Miami. I hope you have better luck.
maybe, if she's on a prescription medication, she can get a higher dosage if her doctor thinks its a good idea. "So shall it be written, so shall it be sung..."

I saw an ionisator / ionic filter in January for only 29 bucks but didn´t buy it because I found it too cheap, they usually start at 80 bucks or more ( the medium size ones are what I´m talking about). A couple of weeks later I read on some allergy discussion forums that I really made a big mistake cause that cheap ass filter was actually an AirButler James model in disguise.
They just put a generic label on it and sold it cheaply because they don´t make the James model anymore. The cheap one now gets sold for 30 bucks and more on e-bay... So I opted for a smaller one for small rooms that you just plug into the socket but I don´t feel any difference, honestly. I would like to buy a HEPA filter but I´m a bit afraid that it might attract germs and stuff inside and spread them all over the place, I don´t really trust air filters . Back to the ionic ones : I also read that they cause a lot of electro smog and too much ozone, so I don´t really know. What I do know is that my hayfever is driving me crazy these days, coughing with asthma, breathing is difficult. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I'm guessing filters just do nothing at worst. Since you change the filter, at least they're clean at some point. Humidifiers, though, I hear can spread stuff. My Legacy
