No, this isn't going to be inflammatory, and doesn't even remotely relate to anyone at Prince.org. It's a real question, prompted by a real happening.

There's a girl I've gone to school with all my life, and had, until this past year, considered a friend. We'll call her, I dunno, Rosemary, since that's her name.

Now, up until this past year, Rosemary was a perfect little Christian girl, non-cussing, going off to church, and then, I'm not quite sure what happened. There was a change overnight almost. She began smoking, cursing. Not so bad, right?

So, I still consider her "tolerable." This past May, the week right before school lets out, I decide to go load up, and go to the movies with my friends AJ, and Ogg. Both are several years older than myself, but "decent" people. High school drop-outs. Heh. Rosemary, the human leach decides to join in. Which is fine. I'm a nice person, I was like, "Of course you can stick with us."

She sits next to AJ. She is the human leech. She latches on to people, and never leaves them alone again.

Now, what brings the whore thing to mind? I knew she had a thing for AJ, we had discussed it. AJ had told me he wasn't a bit interested in Rosemary as a person, he just wanted to "get some." So there's dirty whore number one. But, I've always known that about AJ. So...

Anyhow, I find out today, right in the midst of my lunch, they have indeed had sexual relations. And Rosemary's upset because that's why AJ was around her. BUT, here's the real kicker. Rosemary BRAGS about her junk, she's spreading it around like it's everybody's business. She thinks it's all cool. She'd been talking about how worried she was she was pregnant as well, and is now suddenly "relieved."

How can people my age be like that? That's just, sick!

And then, she spreads lies about a sexual encounter with my ex, which doesn't exactly bother me, it was supposed to have happened last weekend, when she, someone else, and Brad got drunk together. Something about something...Blah blah. Tasting vanilla condoms together. I just don't even know.

Why do skanky, dirty whores exist anyhow?! Why can't people just be decent?! Why do I know people like this? Why have I considered them "tolerable" people? Is there any worth at all to such people?!

Peer pressure
Media pressure - what one see's on TV, etc.
Lack of self esteem, therefore, maybe, wanting
to find some sort of control, or finding a

you as a friend more than ever!

Who are you to judge others? Has she hurt you? By the tone of your "essay" doesn't sound like you have offered any concern or support to your friends. Maybe you should look at yourself first. Lead by example.

When i was growing up--(back a few years, mind you), i watched numerous friends of mine destroy themselves with hardcore drugs(my best friend was expelled from my school in 9th grade for selling pot and coke ?!)...made me sick to my stomach. But instead of letting it get me down, i kept looking for people with more self respect, and learned to respect myself more. I completely changed the group of people i normally hung out with(and yes, some of these people did drugs and had sex, but not at such a huge cost to themselves).

That's the real key you know...learn to like yourself and you find people that are like you.

Maybe...just maybe... you should take an inventory (write down a list of attributes) of what you want out of friendship. And see if these folks are really who you want to associate with. Sometimes we can outgrow people. It may be time for you to look at making some new connections

sometimes those folk sleep around to counter low self esteem. need reassurance of their own worth
