Breaking Taboos - is it a good thing or bad thing? Keeping certain things hidden, sometimes remain hidden to an extent, but bringing it out in the open, makes it more socially acceptable, and in some cases more dangerous

I hate keeping things hidden.
Nothing should be that way.

Ex-Moderator | Depends on what you're talking about, I guess. Some things are taboo for a reason. Some are for stupid reasons. And still others are more fun if they're considered "taboo". |

It depends on what context. For example, take swear words. Blasphemy was the number 1 taboo in terms of cursing now its words with sexual conatations. Who´s to say if its a good or a bad thing. There's Joy In Expatriation.

Ok, one example.. Drugs. People openly use them now but years ago it was more hidden.. before it was a joint, and now its moved onto harder drugs which are more socially acceptable. I will love you forever and you will never be forgotten - L.A.F.

Well, as JD says, you have to look at each taboo separately. And I think the drug thing has gone up and down with acceptance over the years. It also depends on your social circle how widely accepted they are or aren't. |

Is this thread about the latest trends in porn ? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

i think breaking taboos is good if you actually have something productive to say in so doing. if you're holding up a mirror to society and challenging our morals and norms and challenging us, i think that's a good thing.
if you're just trying to be all badass and an attention whore, yawn-a-roonie.
