I really liked Burt Lancaster's character in The Swimmer. Very complex and interesting.

Burt created a memorable character in every film he was in. cool

I love chemistry, so a lot of my "bests" are teams:

Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) & Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) -- Casablanca

Nick & Nora Charles (William Powell and Myrna Loy) -- The Thin Man

Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) & Scarlett O'Hara (Vivien Leigh) -- Gone With The Wind

Henry II (Peter O'Toole) & Eleanor of Aquitane (Katherine Hepburn) -- The Lion In Winter

Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck) & Princess Ann (Audrey Hepburn) -- Roman Holiday

Terry Malloy (Marlon Brando) -- On The Waterfront

Jefferson Smith (James Stewart) -- Mr. Smith Goes To Washington

Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck) -- To Kill A Mockingbird

I could go on and on...

cool

Your list is cool....here are some more that I really like:

1- Frank White ( King Of New York / Christopher Walken )
2- Michael Corleone ( The Godfather / Al Pacino )

3- Tony Montana ( Scarface / Al Pacino )

They´re all gangsters, I know...but gangsters are always fascinating...at least in movies.

Other cool characters would be Mad Max, John Rambo ( well, sometimes he seems to be a bit dumb but still...), and of course Bugs Bunny and Dorothy ( Wizard of Oz ) .

I would like to mention more females than just Dorothy but I have a hard time remembering any decent, cool and iconographic female movie characters....

Christopher Walken is an underrated actor in my humble opinion. He deserved the oscar for his role as Leonardo Dicaprios dad in the movie I cant remember the title of. He was also very good in the Deer Hunter.

He's also an incredible dancer. Really tore it up in Pennies From Heaven. cool

James Bond - Sean Connery and Roger Moore were the best!
Thunder Leg/Drunken Master - Hwang Jang Lee
The Joker/Batman - Jack Nicholson
