Ebay help

Has anyone here won an item on ebay, but for some reason hasn`t paid for it?
As you know, the seller can file a unpaid item strike . Can anyone tell me how that works? What happens to the buyer who doesn`t pay?

Thanks

What's the reason for not paying? There are certain reasons for retracting one's bid that are accepted by E-Bay, so maybe if you have a good reason for not paying after winning the auction, the same will apply.

I've never had a strike against me, but if a buyer gets too many unpaid item strikes in a short period of time, their account can be suspended. The seller can also leave negative feedback, which hurts the buyer's feedback score. The best thing for a buyer to do is to communicate with the seller before it gets to this point to work out a solution.

normaly they just put a hold on the ebay and paypal acct till an amicable solution is found so if you just sort it then its done, provided you dont have a major issue with the item or transaction it wont take long.

lol Too funny. I just won something yesterday on eBay. I also got my ignition fixed recently and the dealership accidentally charged me twice, so I'm overdrawn and the bank won't correct itself until the end of the week! I hope the seller's patient with me, as I'm dead broke. confused
Oh shit, my hat done fell off

At the bottom of the auction pages there`s a column titled payment details, which says what kind of payment methods are accepted. It said that the seller preferred paypal, which i use.
After the auction was closed i saw that the seller had written "PAYPAL accepted for USA ONLY" under the column.

So basically, the problem is that i can`t pay her cause she won`t accept paypal outside the US. I`m trying to send a money order, which i haven`t done before.

I was in a similar boat and thus got banned from ebay for forgetting to pay my sellers on time. Its a case of three strikes and you´re out. I got a negative comment from one user saying ´Buyer is a waste of time-DONT TRADE!´. I made up a fib and wrote back explaining that my computer was in repair and I forgot what Id bid for. Thus it wasnt my fault. I wrote a further note saying I was hurt by their comment. What a sad thing to do! lol

WTF! "Usa only"? Why? PayPal works just as well internationally. Just tell her that, maybe she doesn't know.

Yeah, that's a really stupid reason! I've used PayPal to send and receive money from all over the world, and it's just as easy every time. You should be able to send the money to her via PayPal. It would be a shame to get into a dispute over this, because you didn't do anything wrong.

You`re both right, i don`t understand it, which i wrote her. I said that it didn`t occur to me to check which countries she would accept paypal from. Either you accept paypal as a payment option or you don`t...

The seller only sent a short mail back asying that a bid is binding, and that she would file a unpaid item claim.

She`s a mean ole` bitch mad

Fauxie

Try to communicate with them and get them to accept a Paypal payment from you. Otherwise, just be nice and see if you can agree to mutually cancel the transaction. That way you get no strike against your account and they can still reclaim their fees.

I owe her $9.77 (2.77 + 7.00 for shipping).

I`ll contact her again and try to get her to accept paypal, or like Fauxie said, cancel the transaction.

Thank you all for your help hug

I wouldn't worry about this transaction at all. If there were other bidders she can offer them a second chance. And if she leaves a negative comment do the same to her (too small of an amount to worry about). If she leaves you a negative you can type a note under it explaining the situation.

Don't worry about it! comfort

There is benefit for her, as well. Unlike Paypal, Google Checkout (currently) does not charge sellers any fees.

It just goes on and on.... lol

She refuses to accept the google checkout shrug

This is part of what she wrote in the seller's payment instructions:

METHODS ACCEPTED: (ORIONPAY.COM, Money Order, PayPal, Personal Check, Wire Transfers, Other)

You see she wrote that she accepts "Other" ways to pay, that means that we should come to an agreement, right? When i`ve offered her to pay woth google checkout (another payment method) but she refuses to accept that payment, that should be a good argument for me when (and if) i get contacted by ebay for a claim filed against me for not paying.

Does this sound reasonable?

Can you send her a money order or cashiers check? I take it you must really want what you bid on!?

No, i don`t care about the item. What i really want is to get this over with, which is why i politely asked her if we could mutually agree to cancel the transaction. I also pointed out that there was another bidder, and that she could offer that buyer a second chance, but she refused, repeating "sorry, a bid is binding"
