Nope, wasn't part of the "cool" crowd. Black kids who did well in school weren't considered cool.

That's sad.

Oh wait, it's the same thing for white kids.

No it's not. Being called 'sellout', 'white', and having your blackness questioned isn't the same.

I was the class cut up/clown/smart ass through almost all of my years in school...except the 9th grade when I made the transition from Catholic school to public school....but after that it was on.....I didn't do crazy pranks or evil bad stuff....just messing with the teachers and wasting class time mostly...I don't know if it made me cooler, but I definitely developed a following....nod

I was respected. I was captain of the school football team, a hot girl in my year fancied me for years and I generally didnt act like a dick like most of the fellas in my year. I hung out with folks from the year above and when they left I hung about with my girlfriend.

JD, I can confidently say I would have hated u at school smile jammy get

Well I was and am quite a modest guy so I donĀ“t think you would have in all honesty. I would also like to point out that when I took over the captaincy our results when horrendously down hill.

I'm not black and I hate this stereotype. I have African-American friends who were very smart and got along well socially. They were in magnet programs, and even my friends who weren't in the top highschools did really well and graduated in the top 20% of their class. A stereotype like this can really have an affect on African American students and the effort thaat they put into school and getting good grades.

There were lots of black kids in my class at school, and they were ALL intelligent but they were cool too. Some were fucking funny, others we loved the same music.,. I remember one was a fucking brilliant break dancer.. and Gloria oh gorgeous sexy Gloria, she was so beautiful and the fastest runner in the school.. smile

Did you get into trouble loads?

I did, and always got caught.. but that was cool, cos ppl knew I had no boundaries and they darent fuck with me.. cool

I got along with everyone and when I did happen to get into any trouble...I usually got off lightly, plus I was a good character actor!

I called my science teacher a witch and she told me to get out and not come back until my mom comes to the school....I had to think of something fast....so I went to the water fountain afterschool and put fake tears in my eyes....and made up a story about how my personal life was in shambles.....evillol I was 13! The list goes on and on and on.....
