That smelled like death!! Today was weird.

http://www.mercurynews.co...source=rss

A huge heap of scrap metal cars caught on fire today and filled the streets of the town I work in with smoke that smelled like burning plastic and electrical fire. It made the insides of my nostrils burn and I felt sick to my stomach for a good three hours after I spent time in it. I was walking around the property because I thought it was on fire, and spent a good 20 minutes walking around outside.

They are saying that there was no health threat, but I don't believe them. sad

OH MY GOD!!! Where was it? I smelled it in San Jose. It was awful. There was a rubbery smell and their was a bluish haze.

Oops. edit. I just read the article. It was in Redwood City. That's still a ways away and the smell was pretty bad over here.

So if you smelled it in San Jose, can you imagine what it would have been like three or four miles away? sad

What's burning is paint, plastic, aluminum, old oil and grease. Irritation to those burning products is normal . Which is why they recommended everyone stay in doors. Long term would be hazardous to your health.
My town used to burn old airplanes which caused black smoke, but didn't blow into populated areas.
