I don't believe some of what I read in Buddhism, mostly involving Mahayanist stories, but I don't think Buddhism requires you buy off on the whole enchilada so long as you know how to practice the correct precepts towards enlightenment. But to answer your question, no. I don't believe in any consciousness after death, I don't believe in a human soul that carries on after we're gone. I don't find it depressing at all that this is all there is. If anything, it's motivating. If this is all I get, I had better make it as good as I can. I did mention it was in wrong forum, but I dont wanna discuss this with a load of headcase religious freaks.. I just wanted to know the opinions of my everyday ppl I post with. But why do you feel like that Carrie? 
Were you ever religious? Are you spiritual? Why are we here even? Whats the point? Surely if we just had one life we wouldnt waste it posting on the org?  I wonder if the can access prince.Org in heaven?

There are lots of questions that I don't have answers to, but that doesn't mean that I feel the need to accept the prepackaged answers that church or culture provides (and which don't make any sense to me). As far as I know, there is no afterlife. And, you know, I don't know that I would want eternal life. If I had it, I wouldn't want to know about it (and I don't say that about much). Like Carrie said, there's something about believing that this is all we've got that can provide perspective. But I know lots of people have had experiences that point them towards a belief in this. I have to wonder if it's wishful thinking, but at the same time, if I had those experiences, I'd take them seriously. I find it vastly easier to imagine that our lives are eternal (or at least as long-lived as the universe) than I do to imagine that there is an eternal omnipotent creator God thing out there. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1! | |

Because I've had prayers answered. lol, you didnt need to answer all the questions, but thanks for getting it started.. do you believe you will meet all your lost family and friends when you enter heaven? I have read a few books about the idea of heaven, and I guess cos I was brought up by nuns, that still sits in my mind.. there MUST be something more than this life, but we must try and do and achieve great things now, whether just kindness and happiness, love and faith.. I mean its a question really nobody can answer here, so I am really interested in hearing everyones opinions OMG and mods: PLEASE DONT SEND THIS TO P&R FORUM, where they will crucify this thread  It's ok, it will return one day.
