Do you sometimes feel the urge to drop the gloves and get into an all-out flame war with a particularly obtuse orger?

Contrary to popular belief, I am not dying to flame someone. I've already had the ultimate flame and don't care to top this dubious achievement.

You have been known to post a great number of intellectually stimulating and thought-provoking topics. In your long history of brilliant topics, which topic do you feel was your best topic and why?

Was there a single, defining event in your life that influenced your posting style, and if so, what was it?

Tough one.. I don't think there's any one event, not even the time I ghostwrote Norman Mailer's novel. Those who know me understand why I feel at ease with the written word. That's all I'll say.

Is it your love of literature and writing that have convinced you to make the General Discussion forum your home here on the org, or is it just that there is not that much to say about Prince that hasn't been said 85,486,259 times?

My problem is time. I can't follow every thread that might be interesting. I kind of shudder at the stuff I might have missed. Since my priority is to have fun or maningful interactions, I go where likeminded people seem to congregate. Which is the GD.

Besides Ian wouldn't forgive me if I defected to the Prince forum.

You are right, it is nearly impossible to have a meaningful interaction with someone when talking about Prince... there is really nothing intellectually stimulating about Prince, is there?

...and the rest of us would never forgive you for abandoning the one and only true forum, so I am glad that you have made the choice that you have.

I'm drawing a blank... Honestly, I don't think any of my topics were that great. Some were fun in a broadly parodic way. As for my worst topics, all you have to do is scrap the bottom of the GD archives. smile

If you had to choose between the William Shatner album and the Leonard Nimoy CD, which would you choose and why?

Both men are beloved thespians, but which man do you think has the most musical talent?

I have to go with Shatner out of patriotism, but I reserve the right to set the volume as low as I want.

To tell you the truth, I'm too chicken to listen to their work.

Individuality. No matter what you do, always do it your own way. I've read horrible rants and personal attacks that I enjoyed simply because they had that spark that said it could only come from this particular poster.

I know that a lot of your fans would like to know your opinion on the "star rating" on threads. Do you like or dislike this feature and do you believe that many petty and bitter orgers use this feature in an attempt to make themselves feel better about their shallow and unremarkable lives?

Declare a general amnesty and institute mandatory lessons in e-boxing (aka flaming), including sportsmanship.

It should be taken off the page because it's too easy to abuse. Can you imagine how easy it would be for me to vote this thread 5 stars 20 odd times?

Yeah, I know... someone gets a vendetta against you and starts clicking off on zero stars a million times as if it makes any difference.

Do you feel that this behavior is indicative of a lack of self-esteem on the part of the voter?

I'm not as big a fan of Bergman as I was when I was an angst-filled teenager, but Persona remains a fetish movie of mine. It doesn't surprise me that he wrote this script when suffering from vertigo brought on by a nasty ear infection. There are some Bergman movies I can barely watch today cuz they are so damn neurotic, such as Winter Light, but I admiring for tackling so many profound questions.

Today, I'm more of a François Truffault kind of guy. He's dead now, but I am incredibly attached to his work He never made a bad movie and so many of them rang so true for so many phases of life.

Stare at this picture without moving your eyes for about 30 seconds. Do you see the face slightly come forward or does it go backward?

Speaking of your avatar, is it true that it is meant to represent the combined sexual power of all gay martians?

Is it true that you were abducted by aliens and that you took over the ship and probed them before they got a chance to probe you? ...and, if so, was it fun?

It was, until I realized I boinked them in the ear rather the other cavity I was heat-seeking.

They have one big ear on the butt, and their genitalia and chute are on their head. You can call them shitheads -- they don't mind.
