Probably when I was cooking some refried beans and my housemate told me he thought I was eating cat food. confused That interaction represented so much.

confuse wait, or was it watching my best friend turn into a drunkard before my eyes

My first apartment after I'd dropped out of college (and the dorms) when I was 19, I moved in with an old, good friend and didn't realize how bad her meth habit had gotten. neutral
It was a 1 bedroom apartment that only she and I paid rent on (to her parents, who'd taken out the lease) and there were 3-6 people staying with us at any given time. Including people who were basically dealing out of the house. They all knew I was "clean" and were paranoid and scared of me. giggle It made for some great stories (involving police, parties and dealers who'd leave me pot all the time, thinking they were being nice and I'd just give it away), but I moved out within 2 months. Methheads are crazy people. At the time I wished I'd had a video camera (actually, I wanted super 8 giggle ) and I'd have made a documentary. I would watch them for hours, fascinated. But ultimately, it was scary, too. I have no regrets, cause it pushed me into getting my very first own apartment. In the building next door. lol

It'd probably be my roommate a few years ago who invited really, really drunk people over after I'd fallen asleep one night. despite promising me before to always leave our bedroom door locked in that kind of situation, she left it open and i woke up with a belligerent drunk guy half on top of me & his hands up my shirt. fun! confused all the other crap that's happened pales in comparison.

it's bad.

when i lived in brooklyn, i was looking for a roommate and one of my co-workers turned out to be the least freakish person i could find so i figured what the hell.

well, one weekend in the middle of the night i'm sleeping, and i wake up to a loud CRASH and see my roommate's leg sticking through my wall (we had a door separating our rooms) and i got up to use the bathroom and just as i turned on the light and ALMOST touched my toe to the bathroom floor, i notice a thin layer of POOP scrubbed across the floor, as if someone had shit on the floor and tried not very hard to clean it up.

the next morning i found crack pipes in the dining room. disbelief

we had a talk. i was so mortified, *I* eventually moved out and left his crackula ass behind. fortunately we worked different shifts, so i rarely saw him at work.

that was BAD

I had just moved to San Fran. The house I lived in was sold and we were evicted, which was very common in 2000. Since I didn't know anyone, nor did I want to move with the other 2 house mates, I went it alone.

I Craigslisted I was looking for roomies and got this guy from TX (Manuel) who was looking to move up here. I shouldn't have gone for it, but I was a little desperate. I knew when he arrived with a BIG assed truck he didn't know how to drive on skinny streets/hills with his shit just tossed in. I should have taken note that it was the start of the mess. Oh and he was slightly handicapped too, which didn't bother me, but it would have been nice to know.

We ended up moving 4 people into a 3 BR house. Me and the Downstairs gal got along famously as we had lived with other people before. Manuel started off ok, And enjoyed all the artisticness that was in SF... but he didn't like things like chores nor did he think it was necessary to have meetings to discuss bills or chores or really anything. I'll never forget when we DID have a meeting and he said something that pissed the girl roomie off she took all of his crap that had been piling at the top of the staircase and sent it flying down the steps!!!It went from bad to awful to nasty in a quickness. I've blocked most of it out.

When he eventually left, he peed on one of the living room charis.

It was probably the worst experience I ever had. WOrse that living with my best friend girl chick who fell in love with me and had sex with my boyfriend.
