EXERCISE

go to the gym 2 or 3 times a week. or jog if that's more your thing. or swim. or all three.

cut out sugared sodas altogether. there's a good 15 pounds you'll drop right there.

and just watch what you eat. cook more fresh stuff and eat less fast food/processed food.

that should help.

Try the cabbage soup diet. I did it for 7 days and dropped 5 pounds.

...and then you put it all back on unless you changed your eating habits or started working out more.

The only way to lose weight is to continually take in less calories then you burn.

I work out 5-6 times a week, an hour of weights with an additional 30 minutes of cardio.....my diet consists of plenty of proteins, salads and veggies....I cut out processed sugars, regular sodas...minimize my portions of starches like rice and potatos.....and just watch the size of my overall meal portions...the idea is to eat until you're full, not to clean your plate (awful childhood learned behavior IMHO!!)....I also increased my water intake which in addition to having a lot of health benefits in general, it gives you a full feeling between meals....take a multivitamin....also, I work on a 4-6 meal schedule, with protein drinks, fruit, nuts etc serving as the in between meals.....it takes the hunger edge off while waiting between the main meals.....don't eat after 7pm if you can help it and try to get at least 6-8 hours of sleep a night....

You can adjust as you feel comfortable...this works for me because I have to stay within very stringent weight/body fat composition percentages since I am in the military.....at my last weigh in, I came in at around 16% bodyfat at 40 years old (max allowed for my age group is 24%)....and on my last physical fitness test, I did 75 pushups/72 situps (in two minutes for each event) and ran 2 miles in a shade over 14 minutes....out of 300 total points, I scored 285....but the bottom line is finding something that works well for you and that you enjoy doing.....

Have a diet Coke for breakfast, skip lunch b/c you're too busy at work (and aren't allowed to eat at your desk), work 10+ hour days and walk home. It helped me drop 2+ sizes. sigh

That's pretty much it. And you should start in the fall & winter. That way you'll be ready when the warm weather hits.
