WHy? Because AI is a farce. Not only that, but it's the same show every season with the same semi talented nobodies hoping to be the next somebody. And it is helping to ruin music or at least support the notion that music is disposable. Hey if folks will watch and buy the CD's, the show will be made. Though I have come to an understanding on how a tv show like this is popular, at some point the public will take a "Fuck That" statement with the whole thing. I think it's starting now.

It reminds me of when everyone voted for the most unpopular kid in our school for class president (Who happened to be running) simply because they turned it into a joke.

I don't think Sanjaya winning would ruin AI, but it might reveal the truth--that it's about good TV, not good music. People tune in to see the horrible auditions just as much as they tune in for the top 10.

I watch the show because I enjoy it, but I've never once listened to any contestant's music.

Much as I enjoy it, it bugs me that it's taken seriously in the music industry, yet they haven't produced one single artist. Plenty of decent singers, but no real artists.

I'm all for Sanjaya winning. If our president is a joke, why not our American Idol?
