Is this safe?

I know a girl who is 6 months pregnant and she bleached her hair and she dyed it a blue. Are their any bleaches or colored dyes like (blue, pruple, red etc) safe for pregnant women?

I heard about hair dyes made out of vegetable oil.
I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

There is no evidence that the use of topically applied bleach or depilatories increases the risk of birth defects. The use of bleach during pregnancy hasn't been well studied. Most likely, very little of the chemical would seep into your bloodstream and get to your baby. If you choose to bleach or chemically remove facial or body hair, you can minimize your potential risk by rinsing your skin with cold water beforehand (to keep your pores small), working in a well-ventilated area, and limiting the amount of time the products stay on your skin.

Back when I was in esthetics school, we actually had a class revolved around this, because one of my teachers was pregnant. Providing the woman wore a dust mask while getting the dye job, there's nothing wrong with colouring her hair. And even then it's only for certain products, like hair lighteners or chemical dyes.

my sister went to some organic hairdresser when she was pregnant, and went from black hair back to her natural blonde over 3 visits, she was assured their colours were safe. Her kid is 2 next month and doesn't talk yet confused

If the hairdresser was genuinely using organic, chemical-free products then that wouldn't be the cause. Then again, the beauty industry in a lot of countries, inculding Aussie-land, is estremely loosely regulated at best. There are a lot of ways salons and spas can ease around rules and regulations. confused
