beauty products gone awry!

I can't believe I'm admitting this. disbelief

OK, so I waxed my upper lip on Sunday night. I just bought some waxing strips and did it myself at home.

I don't know why I did this. disbelief

I had the tiniest bit of hair there. It was utterly blond and utterly invisible to everyone but myself in a magnifying mirror. I even solicited advice from friends and they all agreed I didn't need to do it. But when my mother hit menopause she grew a dark moustache and even though I take after my dad in fairness of hair and all that I just don't ever want to see that on my lip. I mean, what if someone thinks I have a moustache. boxed So I decided it was time to start waxing and nip it in the bud, before I ever have to know.

So I bought the strips and tried it out and it hurt like hell and I put the lotiony after-care stuff on Sunday night.

And it was swollen and sore ALL DAY yesterday. (But not noticeably so, I consulted coworkers. lol )

And today I'm breaking out! bawl ALL OVER my upper lip. There are at least 15 tiny little white heads I've popped so far and it hurts and it's all raw and red and I look 8 thousand gajillion times worse than before. bawl Cause basically before I looked like a normal human being with very nice skin and now I'm raw red lip girl. bawl

Any tips, ladies? confused

It usually happends within the first week and if it was a store bought kit it probably didnt rip it out below the surface real well so yes. I had the problem before and the esticians had me start exfoliating after and never again.

Next time go to the spa and let a professional do it....it is not that expensive and well worth it....for now, put some aloe gel on it.....it will soothe the skin and perhaps even aid in the swelling.

sorry...hope it gets better soon....

The same sort of thing happened to me when I got my eyebrows waxed two years ago.
I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

I use a mild exfoliating thing every day. I'll just whip out the big gun stuff before I go to bed and in the morning.

I use one of those little finishing touch things. It doesn't hurt, and gets rid of the hair very well.

I've been waxing for 25 years. Bikini and underarms I do myself. I have the full leg done professionally.
The only thing I can think of, is you pulled the strip in the wrong direction. For example, when I get my legs waxed, the woman stands at the foot of the bed and pulls the cloth away from her. You need to pull the strip in the opposite direction the hair is growing.
The upper lip hair grows down so you should have pulled up with the strip, maybe taking your other hand and tauting the skin from the corner of your mouth.
Have it done professionally once, see what she does, then try at home again.
Ouch!
sad

Good thought, but yes, I did it correctly. I've been professionally waxed before, just not there.
