In my book it is. The entire cast did a good job IMO (and I was highly skeptical going in). It had its slow moments, but the comedy highlights were laugh-out-loud-funny, it dabbled in a pinch of black history, and touched on stereotypes, including what's NOT acceptable 2 say within the African-American community. The best part is it's a movie for MOST ages. The theater we went 2 was packed with what looked like ages 5 to 75, and we had a good ol' time. Oh, and U KNOW Cedric was off-the-chain! So honey, don't B scurred...check it out. [This message was edited Tue Sep 17 2:33:44 PDT 2002 by aspera773]

I agree, I saw it twice already! I like the different roles in the film. Ice Cube played a all around good guy who just wanted to provide for his family in a legal, honest way. All of the actors shined in this film, but Cedric the Entertainer made this movie happen. You have to listen carefully to get everything he said, listen closely after "Ricky" called him a hater, Cedric comment after that was halarious! I would reckamend (yes, reckamend) everyone to see this one. Life my azz muthafucka, dis is a bitness!!

"Whooo drank MY apple juice?!?!"
Yeah, this is a nice comedy that touches on black history, culture and stereotypes . . . Ceddy is the comic highlite but also adds some serious overtones to the movie. I also thought there was a scene that was very very Spike Lee-ish . . . .where all the barbers in the shop were talking one after the other but it was done in somewhat of a fast sequence and the way the camera showed them in different angles . . . hmmm . . . anyway . . . Ice Cube is looking good in it, that's all I cared about

Let me know when u cop it. Apparently Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton & company are causin' a big stink about comments made by a FICTIONAL CHARACTER in this movie. Guess they didn't get this part: including what's NOT acceptable 2 say within the African-American community.
So, B4 the studio punks out and starts cuttin' scenes, i'd like an unedited version. Holla back. ONE [This message was edited Fri Sep 20 0:36:57 PDT 2002 by aspera773]

I saw this last weekend and it has hilarious. Ice Cube, Eve, Cedric and all the rest did a very good job.
The movie wasn't to negative in stereotypes, but i thought it made a good point about the "hood." Not everything is bad, not everyone is a crook and there are still decent people in the world. Two thumbs up. **************************************************
