XBox 360 Owners: Who's console has died?

Apparently this is pretty widespread, but I'd heard it was mainly on models manufactured in 05. Mine was 03/06, got it for Christmas and it died 2 days ago. There's a lot of talk about this on the web...

Is this thing that much of a piece of shit? Anyone else have this issue?
