What do you think of the MPAA asking them to cut out 18 seconds in order to get the R ratting?
I saw a report on it and they said it was censorship. But the makers had the choice to cut it, no one made them. It was a financial decision. They put money over art. And they will, as they pointed out, make them more money when the unrated DVD comes out. ne Witty Signature last seen under a much more clever person than me.

no. although the second half I beleive was much shorter than the first, i think. if you need to take a leak, its best to do it during the 'intermission' or the begining of the second half. That way you dont miss the good stuff.

yes. "death proof", tarantino's film, is far superior. The dialogue is loads better, for starters.

Planet Terror:
80 min. Death Proof: 90 min. really? so they are really both pretty much full length movies. A true double feature. I do not know why buy I thought they were both about an hour long. ne Witty Signature last seen under a much more clever person than me.

And they will, as they pointed out, make them more money when the unrated DVD comes out. You need to watch the doc called "This film is not yet rated", they're showing it on IFC this month I believe... An NC17 rating has a HUGE effect on the film - I'm not sure about theater chains that will carry it but there are definitely DVD/video outlets that WILL NOT stock an NC17 film - Blockbuster & WallMart being 2 of them. It greatly effects the profits, & the profits effect the budget on the next flick. With those 2 guys I'm sure they could get funded after several duds but still - they want the film to do well & be as widely available as possible. So if it's not detrimental, make the cut until the MPAA can be dissolved

Another thing they were saying in the film is that unrated films have a harder time being marketed, which is a drawback in rejecting the rating. They also exposed appeals board members who were basically representatives of several studios & theaters. Not sure where they get the actual members, but the fact that it's some group of parents more freaked out by sex than by violence it utterly stupid. It's a really interesting doc - the MPAA has a serious problem w/ female pleasure

I realize that, but Convoy wasn't a B movie. It was a huge commercial success. Everybody had a CB radio after that movie. Hell, John Singleton is currently making a remake of Convoy. 10-4,good buddy? a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

i just saw the beginning of the "Thanksgiving" trailer and thought it was so funny that I stopped it on utube to wait for the theatre.
A friend of mine told me that "thansgiving" the trailer is the most funny solid highpoint of the whole thing...simply brilliant. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

ME MAD! I had a long reply and it did not post!
The MPAA is voluntary and it is good so we have an idea what to expect. Even if they pressure movie studios and even movie houses to not show unrated movies, it is still a choice. And the film makers know what to expect, they know what they can get away with. It seems that they KNEW they would be asked to remove something no matter what so they put in things they thought would not get past with an R. And they only cut 18 or 19 seconds so that is not too bad. And this reminds me of Scarface. There was a myth that there was an X rated cut of it. But that is not true. Yes the it was given an X but then the director argued and got the MPAA to give the original version an R. And there was something like that with south park (tv). They wanted Cartman to say "sucky 5 dolla" a few times. So they asked how many times can he say it. and they went back and forth and they asked for more than they wanted and by the time they got approved for a given number they got what they originally scripted. ne Witty Signature last seen under a much more clever person than me.

But isn't it goofy that the filmmakers have to go through all that? Why can't the MPAA be more open, honest, reasonable & CLEAR about their rulings? It's a ridiculous system, & those bitches are seriously hung up on sex...
