The Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest is also in the Inyo National Forest, a short drive from Bishop, CA. If you're in the area, I highly recommend it. It takes an hour or so to walk through it.

It's pretty high up, but I think the road is fine, if I remember correctly -- unless you want to visit some special trees which are even higher up. It's very well marked by the forest service, with a nice path through the forest and markings to educate.

The other amazing place nearby is the ghost town Bodie. If you haven't seen it, it's really cool.
