Drugs are EVIL!

Last night I ran into someone I had met 15 years ago when I was with my ex. He always flirted with me and was really mad crazy over me and I thought if I ever left my psycho boyfriend, I'd like to hook up with him. He was so cute and so nice. Haven't seen him since those days. Went to the gay bar I used to frequent during the time we met and he was there. He looked awful. Instantly I could tell he was an addict sigh

He was the one to notice me first actually and he yelled out my name and I turned around and had to pretend like I wasn't ready to faint. He used to be so cute and now he's all marked up in his face, he's sickly thin and to top things off he's homeless. He was telling me about this boyfriend of his that expects him to pay for everything and I'm like this dude knows your situation and he does not love you if he expects you to give him money!

It is just so sad to see someone throw their damn life away. If you are a drug addict and you are reading this in a moment of clarity, PUT THAT SHIT DOWN! IT WILL KILL YOU!

Please, get help sad

I used to be a deejay when I was in high school....mostly school dances and house parties....pretty decent, too....but at the end of the summer after we graduated, the crew split up in different directions....life called...and 3 of the 4 of us went into the military...the fourth stayed home, presumably to go to school or whatever.....after I got out of the service (the first time) and moved back home, he and I planned on reuniting the group....the only problem was that he was getting strung out, quickly approaching bottom...my memorable moment with this was him pulling out an aluminum foil crack pipe, hitting it, and offering it to me...(I'd given up smoking weed/hash while I was in the military)...in retrospect I guess I should've tried to help him instead of the opposite course of action which was to wash my hands of him, but at that time he really was gone and no amount of unqualified help would've done him any good....he pretty much alienated all of his friends from all different circles....

but I'm glad to say that he sought me out a couple years ago when I was in Germany....he's apparently clean and moving on with his life.....if he is, I wish him the best....but the message is clear now as it was then...to paraphrase another friend of mine, "that shit is the devil".....

in all seriousness, a few things are okay in moderation, for me personally. i am okay with weed. not much more than that.

sadly, there are people that use it as a gateway, and get addicted to horrid things.

this country is overrun with crystal meth right now, and it's becoming an epidemic, particularly within the gay community.

do you think he was on tina?

If you have a grip on weed, it's all good. I'm more talking about the hard shit.

I haven't smoked in so long that I'd probably get paranoid and freak out on the first couple of hits.... lol but I'm sure with sufficient practice I'll get back to the way I used to be....laid back with a cheshire cat grin....laughing at anything....with good tunes AND wine, I'm good to go....

so I'll definitely keep that in mind dude....nod

Yikes! Seems to me that the destructive boyfriend is what got him into the drugs, or his using the drugs to mask his misery instead of doing something helpful. Supa, it is unfortunate how things turn out for some acquiantances. I wish that someday he frees himself from those evil drugs.

Very sad.

People who are addicted to anything.

Drugs, alcohol, harming themselves by cutting or eating disorder.

Their lives are not their own.

And they are not only killing themselves but the people around them.

Very sad. sad

i "lost" two friends here in chicago to meth since i moved here.

i say it in quotes because they're still alive...they're just "lost". they went down the rabbit hole and i haven't heard much from them since.

it's sad, especially when you realize you need to keep away from people you care about because they're becoming walking disaster areas. sigh

It's a hard situation because you don't want to turn away, but you know you have to.....

You want to help them, but they don't want it, and it hurts you to watch them destroy themselves, and be helpless.

i did play caretaker once, when i lived in nyc and my roommate became a cokehead. it was one of the hardest trials of my life. i even called all our friends and had an intervention for her. and like a loser i bought snacks and soda for everyone like it was a party. rolleyes

i don't know if i could ever do that again, but i'm glad i did it then. she totally turned her life around and she's doing great now, i'm very proud of her.

The slow destruction of a body and a life and potential being wasted is a terrible thing to watch. How sad it is that so many think they are stronger than the drug, and that becoming addicted can't happen to them.

thankfully chicago is cleaning up just a bit from the whole meth epidemic, though at this point i'm sure it's still just as much of a problem if not worse in smaller communities that it's spread out into. it's the worst stuff on earth. i hate it.

Um. . . I don't like the drugs but the drugs like me?

wink

I don't think "drugs are evil", but I don't think that everybody is capable of moderation, and some chemicals (eg. heroin) are basically impossible to use responsibly.

But careful use of controlled/illegal substances has honestly made my life better at times. I know, I just made a DARE officer somewhere out there cry. lol
