'X-Files' memoriesDavid Duchovny told IESB.net that negotiations are currently underway to make another feature film version of "The X-Files," Chris Carter's cult hit TV series about two FBI agents investigating everything from paranormal to the downright creepy -- while fending off mysterious, back-room efforts to block their work.

The actor made the comments during a press day for his new movie, "The TV Set," which opens April 6.

The Fox series ran from 1993 to 2002, and built a rabid following with its tagline: The Truth Is Out There. A film version debuted in 1998, and while X-Philes helped drive it to a No. 1 box office spot in its opening weekend, it quickly fell off amid reviews that the film was too hard to follow for the uninitiated.

Duchovny said negotiations to do a new movie could be completed as early as this week. There's no script, he said, but he confirmed that Gillian Anderson would be back to play the rational Scully to his believing Mulder.

Which leaves just one question. What about Cigarette Smoking Man (played to sinister perfection in the series by William B. Davis)?

i dunno about a new movie.....could be really crappy

I never thought that they would make another one. Actually, I believe it when I see it. As great as it was when it aired, it just seems to be kind of forgotten nowadays. Maybe because it ran as long as it did, sometimes things are remembered longer/more when they end earlier.

wow, really? I thought that was totally over. It would be interesting to see though, how they deal with the time that's passed and that....

when Scully was pregnant, was it Mulder's child or was it by the aliens? did she ever have the child?

i remember getting my ex to tape the very last episode - a two hour show.....she used a one hour tape.


i was severely vexed. so i have never seen the last hour. i have no idea how it ends.

Why don't you rent it somewhere? Or look up episode guides on the net, they're still around.

This would be awesome, that show was scary for me...

Who's taking Scully's place in the movie? Who remembers the episode where Mulder mentioned Purple Rain? He said it was a great album, but the movie wasn't so great. I think it was the one about the chupacabra.

Julliane Moore....just read the link. She's a good replacement. I saw where it mentioned her replacing Foster in Hannibal. I thought about that.

I guess Julliane Moore is a good choice, but still... The X-Files were Anderson and Duchovny.
