How many of us will end up with colostomy bags?

eek

So ever since my husband started going to these classes, he's like a nutritionalist or whatever.

If I drink a blue moon, he's like, any drink with citrus in it like that, eats your stomach lining, I learned it in my class.

If I drink a Baileys, its, if you drink anything like iced tea now after that, it'll curdle in your stomach.

Then last nite I was eating salsa (I eat like a galloon a week) he was like, that is eating your stomach lining.

I was like , SO WHAT ALREADY! What happens if you lose your stomach lining?

And he said you get a colostomy bag!!! eek eek eek eek

So pretty much were all gonna get one someday huh?

they make really cute clutches and cozies that you can put your colostomy bag in - it just looks like you're carrying a purse with a tube coming out of it, it's no big deal.

Yes.

It's ruining my stomach and yes, I am sometimes in pain with all my stomach issues.

But I am addicted, so what can I do.

No. There are many diseases or conditions that affect the colon where a colostomy is sometimes required:Hirschsprung (congenital), ulcerative colitis, infammatory bowel/Crohn's, colorectal cancer, bowel obstruction. Although definitive causes are elusive, genetics, environmental factors, immune system are suspect. With Crohn's disease smoking is linked.
WebMD is a good source for info.
Colorectal cancer is the only condition, of those I've mentioned, where diet may have an influence.
